Starting mounjaro

Im looking to start my weight loss journey. I have been told certain companies start mounjaro on the 15mg dose and then work their way down

Anyone done this? If so which company would you recommend?

OP posts:

They all start you on 2.5mg.

creekyjohn · 22/06/2025 22:09

Who told you?

DarkForces · 22/06/2025 22:09

I don't think any suppliers do this. It's not recommended. Once you've reached goal weight some suppliers support titration down to the level your weight is maintained

DarkForces · 22/06/2025 22:12

Here's the dosing chart from Asda. There's lots of other cheaper suppliers though. Make sure you go with a properly registered pharmacy to prescribe it. https://onlinedoctor.asda.com/uk/mounjaro-dosages.html

You’d be unbelievably ill starting on 15mg!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 22/06/2025 22:16

I don't know where you heard that some suppliers start you on 15mg.
None of them do.

MisfitMagpie · 22/06/2025 22:19

No reputable licensed supplier would start you on anything but 2.5mg.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 22/06/2025 22:22

OP do use a reputable pharmacy. It's the only safe way.

JamPotJenny · 22/06/2025 22:43

OP please listen to us all. You will be incredibly poorly at that dose. Your body won’t know what’s hit it and it’s highly unethical that someone has suggested that.

Have they mistakenly told you 1.5mg?! The smallest dose is 2.5mg but maybe they’ve got it wrong?!

PinkArt · 22/06/2025 23:04

No-where is doing this. Is it possible you've got the wrong end of the stick and you're reading about maintenance, where quite a lot of people will be titrating back down from 15mg?

zaicandy · 22/06/2025 23:05

You cannot start on that high a dose. It’s dangerous.

MagnoliaTreePetals · 23/06/2025 09:16

I think that maybe mixed messages.
As everyone has said, To lose weight you start on 2.5 mg.
Each pen has 4 doses, so lasts for 4 weeks.
You can stay at the same dose or move up each month, depending on how it is effecting you and your weight loss. Each step up is another 2.5mg higher than the last one.
The maximum dose is 15mg.

When you have reached your target weight the advice is to then work your way back down through the doses until you either come off the medication, or find a level that works well for you to maintain your weight.
Some people will have got to the optimum dose of 15mg when they get to target and start going back down, others might be at the lower doses.

Who told you this? I would stop using them (or platform) for your sources of information.

They are either talking nonsense, or communicating in an unclear way that has resulted in you misunderstanding.

When you start off with Mounjaro look at credible resources only until you clearly understand how the medication works officially.

I am on my last jab of 2.5 and will go up to 5 next week. I have found it has already curbed my appetite a bit, but not completely taken it away. No nausea or vomiting but I am suffering constipation. Am taking 2xpsyliym husk capsules each morninng, eating fresh fruit and veg and drinking water but not having huge meals. Am using senocat 2 times a week to help me and also have used a glycerol suppository. Any one have any other suggestions? Please tell me it won't get worse when I go up to 5 next week!
