Hoping the lovely bunch of May starters thread 3 finds this new thread. Can't believe we are on 4 in the space of couple of weeks.

Thread 3 is now full so can't post the link for the new one there.

I’d be contacting the provider too. I’ve read that one of the reasons they don’t recommend the golden dose is because there is more risk of “contamination” each time you put a new needle into the liquid. I wonder if your pen has got contaminated somehow?

Another weigh in day for me. I’ve lost two lbs this week. My I can’t remember the week number, I started the 20th May. I’ve now lost 23lbs. I’m feeling a difference, although haven’t dropped a dress size yet - which goes to show how I was cramming myself into a size I should t have been wearing!

FlorenceNightshade · 15/07/2025 10:19

@Foreveronaplane @DidILeaveTheGasOn how strange that you are both having localised reactions like that!

In my experience (with diabetics using similar kit) those types of reactions are usually down to issues with technique. Definitely worth asking for help to manage the symptoms but be prepared whoever you contact will likely try and “re-educate” you 🙃 if you’re sure that your technique is good then reach out to your prescriber for advice!

BrienneMonroe · 15/07/2025 10:45

@SutekhsEars totally normally. I get them too. Annoying and itchy. One big hive at injection. Apparantly they stop after a few months

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 15/07/2025 11:20

They seem to be very common, just scanning posts on Reddit will throw up plenty of similar tales of itchy welts.

BerfyTigot · 15/07/2025 13:50

Congratulations to all you losers. Weigh in day for me today. Not a big loss this week, just half a kg which I'm a bit disappointed with tbh. And no-one has noticed that I'm nearly 10kg down. Saw a friend yesterday who had taken MJ for diabetes and knew I was considering starting it. She didn't mention it at all. Yet when I look in the mirror I can see how much slimmer my waist is. Maybe we just don't want to comment on other people's bodies??

End of week 9
SW 102.2kg
CW 92.9 kg
9.3 kg loss.
Bmi 32.1

Hope everyone is doing well

RoaryMouth · 15/07/2025 14:14

Hello. Not posted for a while but been reading. After plateauing for a few weeks I have dropped a few more lbs. So 23lbs altogether. I’ve dropped from an 18 to a 16, but surprisingly I bought a co-ord and had to exchange for a 14, and my barrel jeans I have in a 16 and a 14. Definitely only loose clothing for a 14. I can’t quite believe it. Feeling more confident for my upcoming sunny holiday.
The main upside is just generally feeling more comfortable in my body and my movements. I usually wear swim leggings but ditched them this week!

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 15/07/2025 14:20

@BerfyTigot I’m the same. 10kg down and now starting to fit into my old size 16 clothes and nobody I haven’t told has noticed. I think most my circle are just too polite to comment on people’s weight unprompted. A couple of people who know I am trying to loose weight have said I’m looking good but that’s about it. I still feel happier in myself though as I know I am starting to look different and finding things in my wardrobe that didn’t fit a coupe of weeks ago, but do now is really motivating. I’m not quite size 16 measurements yet but I’ve found several things are fitting me now. I was pleasantly surprised with a pair of non stretchy superdry shorts fitting me at the weekend.

SutekhsEars · 15/07/2025 14:43

@BrienneMonroe @tostaky it's not me getting the welts!

Gingercar · 15/07/2025 15:23

I’m the same. Lost just over 10kg, almost 10% of my body weight. Clothes feel looser, I can see it in my face, my waist looks like it’s thinking about making a reappearance. But I told a friend how much I’d lost the other day and she said “wow, that’s amazing. I can’t see it yet though!”
A few people have said I look really well. But I’ve got a fabulous tan (albeit a farmer tan!) so they could mean that. I think my skin looks fabulous (probably all the vitamins in what I’m eating) and my eyes look bigger (not as sunk in a fat face!). But it’s quite intriguing standing there thinking “I wonder when someone will notice”!

dc82 · 15/07/2025 15:32

The only person that’s commented on my loss is my dp, but then he sees me naked all the time and nobody else does. I’ve taken measurements so I know I have shrunk a bit even if I can’t always see it.

I’ve sometimes had a little red mark or sometimes a bruise where I’ve injected - it’s not itchy though. I’m fairly confident it’s my poor hand eye skills, and it’s confirmed that I maybe would have made a crap nurse.

SussexLass87 · 15/07/2025 16:57

Hello all 👋

Just checking in to say hi - biggest DC is leaving primary this week and BLIMEY there have been so many events to keep track of.

DH is moving back to live with us after being posted away for 4 years (Mon-Fri) plus a couple of 6 month deployments in the middle of it...so it's been a LOT.

I split my dose this week (5mg) and it's made such a difference to my SE. Felt 100 times better and feeling sated (sp?) is fine but not oppressive.

It's been quite funny this week - I don't fit a lot of my old clothes (that I love) so I've been scouring Vinted to replace them like for like 😄 I bought a 16 top the other week that I've had to resell and track down the 14 of which is a nice job to have. God bless you Vinted.

Hope you're all doing okay...love reading all your news. Sorry about all the feeling empty - I know what you mean. The DC have been getting extra cuddles which they haven't been keen on 😄

Foreveronaplane · 15/07/2025 18:14

Thank you for all the suggestions! It was from same pen as I’d moved up to 5mg but pen is finished so fingers crossed I don’t have similar with next one. Appt with provider tomorrow so will ask for guidance as to how to avoid because it drove me to distraction for a few days each time!

tostaky · 15/07/2025 19:03

Same here i lost around 10kg and no-one has said anything yet! I do look less “swollen” on pictures though.

I had my two meetings, it went well, very happy i am changing placement / place of work! I’ll start somewhere new (dont know where yet) in Sept. Exciting!

i did end up exercising after my two meetings and i can confirm it helps with releasing emotions! I blasted music in my ears and laughed and cried and danced on the threadmill (in my garden room, no-one is looking). It felt good to release that tension. Dare i say i need to exercise more!

FlorenceNightshade · 15/07/2025 19:09

Just done my TENTH jab so I’ve had 5x2.5mg and 5x 5mg! Cant believe it’s been 9 weeks already!

SW 92.9 BMI 30
CW 78.8 BMI 25.4

Total Loss 14.1kg

Loss this week was 1.2kg and I’m about 4kg from being a healthy BMI! Going to carry on at 5mg as not having side effects and feel suppression is at a good level.

I don’t look massively different, clothes are definitely looser but not hanging off and only a few people have commented I look slimmer. I post on social media from my runs, dog walks and bike rides so maybe that’s why 🤷‍♀️

I’m on nights this week and next so will be a bit all over the place with when I’m eating but trying to eat my normal stuff. I’m usually too tired for extra exercise so will be happy to get an hours walk in with the dog before bed each morning!

Lovely to hear how everyone is getting on, we’ve all come so far in our own ways and on our own terms and it’s very inspiring to read every day!

Onwards and downwards ✌️

Seahorsesplendour · 15/07/2025 20:02

Evening all! Lovely to read so many messages after a stressful day !! Very much relate to the emotional hunger post last night!!! I think it was @DidILeaveTheGasOn

i really really want my fave Chinese takeaway meal - chicken in bb sauce!!

but totally can’t justify the expense to have 3 mouthfuls of it!!!

very empty tonight apart from my stomach!

anyway reading the thread has provided some distraction but also made me think of a saying I’ve known a long time but no idea how or where it came from to do with weight loss!

1stone off and you feel it
2stone off and your nearest & dearest can see it
3 stone off and the rest of your world notices

I have found it to be pretty true over the years so hold on in there and the comments will come!!

Mounjour · 15/07/2025 20:55

My clothes are definitely starting to hang off me. Apart from underwear, they're all well-stretched size 16s (I dumped the 18s quite quickly). I just can't bring myself to buy size 14s when I hope to get in to 12s by the Autumn.
But I am starting to look a bit odd.

I read about @SussexLass87 success with Vinted. What's everyone else doing with clothes?

(What a "problem" to have! If you'd told me I'd be asking this a year ago I'd have thought you were mad).

AccidentalPrawnYouFool · 15/07/2025 21:05

I’ve dropped a dress size. I got rid of all my 14’s on Vinted and replaced them with 12’s. Mostly on Vinted too (but my next account has also taken a hammering!) Get shopping there’s bargains to be had, and it’s such a confidence boost too ❤️

Totally agree...such a lovely (unexpected!) "problem" for us all. One I certainly haven't had before.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 16/07/2025 17:35

Knackering day packing and cleaning. Ugh.

In an extraordinary act of defiance, I'm not wearing my fitbit because I'm not having some wrist-bound chump airily suggest I'm at risk of undertraining while I'm physically working very hard and sweating profusely.

I found my daughter's old Frozen-themed Garmin whilst packing her room. I might give that a go. The in-app prompts for the Fitbit are such a pain in the arse and can't be disabled.

Here endeth the rant!

MyScaredCat · 16/07/2025 19:21

It’s normally jab day for me but I’m postponing it until Friday as we go on holiday on Saturday for a week and I’m not taking my pen.
i still kept today weigh day and was delighted to see another 1.5 off, making 30lbs in 11 weeks. We had 2 bbqs at the weekend and a birthday in the house and I’m so shocked I ate and drank sensibly and didn’t feel bloated.
excited to go on holiday now feeling good about myself and packing clothes I want to wear, not just what will fit.
any gain I see will be quickly dealt with on my return, but I’m confident I can stay in control and enjoy a few treats

GherkinsOnToast · 16/07/2025 19:25

I'm on w11d4( 2.5, 2.5 and 5) I'm down 0.2kg off 10kg loss! My BMI is down from 34 to 31!

I'm still in the same size 16 clothing as the last 10 years but I no longer have the muffin top, I no longer hitch things over my belly and squish them to do up. I have a pair of size 14 jeans that fit but with muffin top so I'm avoiding them for a little while more.

I lost no weight the last couple of injection days and I was getting frustrated with the increased food noise then boom on Sunday AF arrived and I lost the 3lbs I had been holding onto within 24 hours! I obviously hold everything I drink for 10 days before AF.

I'm going to try 7.5mg from next week and see how that goes.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 16/07/2025 21:09

Loving this evening's updates. I have more to lose than a fair amount of our May cohort, but I just love hearing about losses, wooshes, being excited to pack for holidays. As a group, we are doing amazingly well.

Gingercar · 16/07/2025 21:19

Oh I think there are a good few of us that will be around for a while, don’t worry!

Hows the packing going? We are very lucky that we’re only moving into my late father’s house, which is next door, so we can move things gradually while the sale goes through. We are currently sleeping in one and cooking in the other! It has taken just over 2 years to empty my dad’s house enough to get in it. He saved anything and everything, and the house was it enough to save a lot. And my husband is nearly as bad in our house.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 16/07/2025 21:45

Gosh @gingercar that sounds like an uphill task. How are you dealing with it?

Packing is going well I think. When I left my husband, I set up from scratch and that was (only) five years ago, so I don't have decades' worth of stuff to sort through. A lot of the furniture was second-hand so I could furnish an entire house for me and the children, so now I'm donating quite a few pieces to charity, or getting rid where they're beyond repair. The washing machine that kept us going for five years after being purchased from Facebook marketplace for £80 is finally allowed to retire.

We've got a big day ahead of us tomorrow, but then we'll be ready to move on Friday. My daughter will only have a mattress when we move, everything else will be replaced with new, nice furniture and I'm getting her a new TV. She's had second-hand furniture for 5 years so it's time for a bedroom glowup.

Gosh I'm buggered. I'm glad I have naproxen. My lower back is full of obscenities right now.

Kbr22 · 16/07/2025 22:57

@DidILeaveTheGasOn I only have admiration for you! All you are coping with and losing weight at the same time. It is taking all my energy just to get my exercise in and having a relatively static home life. We are going to be around with you for the long haul, so keep letting us know how you are.
