Landed in A&E with nausea and pain under left rib on Mounjaro

I took my third dose of 7.5 on Sunday and went down like a ton of bricks on Monday night. I have been bed bound since with lethargy, nausea, crippling anxiety and discomfort under my left rib. Antisickness wasn’t cutting it and I’ve barely eaten in 5 days.

I went to see my GP today and she sent me to A&E for bloods to rule out pancreatitis and some other stuff as my heart rate is high too.

Currently sitting and waiting for my blood results and am crippled with anxiety. I almost feel ashamed everytime I say I took Mounjaro as I feel like this is self inflicted.

I feel like I wont be able to stomach food every again in my life and god only knows if I have pancreatitis at play.

Anyone else experience extreme nausea thats not letting up nearly a week after there jab. Ive literally been bedbound and feel like a terrible mother at the minute.

Do not be ashamed, especially to medical professionals, of taking Mounjaro, you were eligible, got it prescribed to treat a medical need and were taking responsibility as a positive step to improving your health.

Hope it is nothing serious and you are on the mend soon 💗

Foxesandstars · 20/06/2025 15:08

I had a similar experience and it turned out to be nothing. Hope you get a good result.

GreenSpeckledFrog · 20/06/2025 21:19

Hope you're okay.

stargazer02 · 20/06/2025 21:21

How are you now OP?

Plantladylover · 20/06/2025 21:21

Please don't feel ashamed or embarrassed. I hope you are ok very soon

YourTruthorMine · 20/06/2025 21:38

Pancreatitis pain is quite specific, like a band across the top of your abdomen . I had it a couple of times, couldn't make it to A&E as the pain is 10/10, so rode it out at home and was admitted the following morning. the main feature of it is severe pain, rather than nausea ( vomiting is a nice little side effect ) Unfortunately weight loss meds kicked off my gallstones, which led to pancreatitis & jaundice, so it's worth ruling these out. Hope you feel better soon

MrsCarson · 20/06/2025 22:31

Maybe you can go back down a dose if you were doing well.
I hope you're fine.

Ke11 · 21/06/2025 13:22

Hope you're feeling better today 🙂

Mounjour · 22/06/2025 14:39

I hope you can come back and let us know that you're ok OP.

I had a rotten time of it in week 1 too (including an overnight in hospital) and at the time I thought it was due to the MJ.

@Ocean93 What was the outcome of this for you, please? I'm experiencing similar (although not A&E) and am really anxious. Blood tests next week as I'm not ill enough for it to be an emergency.

Hi, hope you’re feeling okay. My bloods were absolutely fine although symptoms continued for about that whole week and maybe even two after stopping. My appetite came back extremely slowly, my reflux again took about 2/3 weeks to settle and the uncomfortable feeling under my rib went away on its own. I did stop the jabs after that dose though. Hope you feel better soon. What are your symptoms ? X

Much milder version, but I've had stomach pain since Friday (under left rib and then central) and nausea since yesterday which comes and goes. Zero appetite although I can eat if something is put in front of me. I thought at first it was a reaction to something I ate, but now I fear it's my pancreas. The pain has been better today and the GP didn't seem concerned at all, which was reassuring - just said to go to A&E straight away if it gets worse.

How did you find coming off MJ? Have you managed to maintain any weight loss?

How are you feeling today? Hope much better. I went cold turkey and didnt gain much at all. I started going to the gym about 6 weeks later and have maintained since ( gained over Christmas but that will fall off soon I hope). Ive been really conscious with my protein intake and trying to eat more of it.

I feel ok today, thank you. A couple of twinges but I'm hyper aware of everything right now so hopefully it's nothing. I've eaten quite plain food.

Good to know you've maintained! I'm actually quite scared of going back to my old brain, if I do have to give up.

Dewberrywotsit · 11/01/2026 10:53

I just wanted to check in as have read this thread. How are you now @BelleEpoque27 and @Ocean93 I am also having some twinges on top left under rib and a bit of sickness (no vomiting) and tummy pain - much like hunger pain and am feeling a bit anxious. On week 2 day 2...

BelleEpoque27 · 11/01/2026 11:40

I'm absolutely fine now thanks @Dewberrywotsit . No pain since the twinges I mentioned in my last post, and I've eaten normally (including thing like cheese and chocolate in small quantities).

I'm having blood tests on Thursday just to check how everything is looking. Was meant to jab last night and was too anxious, but I might to do tonight - am undecided. I don't really want to leave it until after the blood tests come back, as that'll be another week at least. The GP did say I was fine to carry on taking MJ as long as I'm not in severe pain or otherwise unwell (fever etc).

It has made me a bit worried about taking MJ long term, but for now the benefits outweigh the possible negatives.

It sounds like yours is fairly mild so far, and within the expected side effects? Have you tried Rennie's/Pepto Bismol?

Dewberrywotsit · 11/01/2026 13:24

No, I will take a Rennies next time and see if it helps. I have actually made myself eat a bit more today as perhaps it was actually some kind of hunger pain in disguise! I had a sweet potatoe and have since had some toast and avocadoe and then a bit later some toast and smoked salmon. This is a small amount for me as I am generally a big eater. I don't mind slowing ewight loss down if that is healthier also - i want to sustain it so am trying to pace, BUT yes ....since eating my tummy actually feels better not worse. I am monitoring though. Glad you're feeling better now. 🌺

LoveSandbanks · 11/01/2026 13:50

Don’t be remotely ashamed - my own go takes mounjaro! He recommends apple cider vinegar for the sulphur burps!

@Dewberrywotsit It does sound like you might just have been hungry 😁 I definitely have had an uncomfortable feeling in my stomach that isn't hunger when I haven't eaten enough - I then feel really tired and realise I need to eat. You do need to make sure you carry on eating regularly, your body needs the nutrition.

And there's absolutely no shame in taking it - the GP I saw last week was very positive and said she wished she could prescribe it to everyone who needed it.

BelleEpoque27 · 11/01/2026 20:02

Sorry, I've replied to myself 🤦 Not sure how I managed that.

Haha it's a skill! I knew what you meant. Thanks. I have eaten a bit more today and feel better for it - not more tummy pain. Just such a disconnect between brain and body isn't it?
