Hot weather affect scales??

I’m currently on a dose of 12.5 and in the slow loser lane. Over the past week, I’ve noticed that the scales show weight gain, making me anxious. I was a bit late in taking my injection by a few days because I was away from home, but I am eating at or below my calorie allowance, so I know I’m not consuming more calories.

I wonder if the hot weather could be a factor and if anyone else is experiencing something similar.

I’m not on the injections but my weight has gone up and this has panicked me this week! I’ve been doing so well for six months and I’m about to go into a sedentary job following an active one so I’m in a huge panic!
I wandered if it was the weather

Could it be weather related in the sense of dehydration and you need to up your water intake?

Doublechins · 19/06/2025 08:25

I haven’t noticed a gain but I haven’t lost this week. I’m going to increase my water intake as PP suggested and see if that helps

Modern scales usually re-zero when you step on and off and the calibration shouldn't be temperature sensitive to any significant degree. Try looking at a differential by holding a few bags of flour or something and see if they go up by the right amount, and check they go back to zero when you step off.

I was going to say dehydration/water retention like previous posters.

make sure you’re having your 2lts a day and a bit more if you’re out and about and active in the heat.

I weighted myself eRlier and it showed a gain but i am 99% sure it is the weather. I weighted daily this week and was always down. It has been an extremely hot day today, i have drunk so much water i feel bloated. Hang in there!

FableTheRaven · 20/06/2025 08:15

I’ve had diarrhoea this week (sorry for tmi) and have barely eaten anything, although I have drunk lots of water to counteract dehydration. Scales haven’t moved in 5 days - going to assume the heat is making me hang onto water more as anything else is too depressing to think about!
