Mounjaro - How much weight did you lose before people started to notice?

Just out of curiosity really, I've now lost 1 and 1/2 stone on the scales but I don't really see any/much difference myself apart from my size 16 work trousers being ever so less tight around my waist. If I'm being very desperate I've perhaps lost some weight from my cheeks (face cheeks that is..!)

When I imagine 1 and 1/2 stone it sounds like a lot but no one including myself has noticed at all!

What sort of weight did you lose which triggered people to notice?

I’ve lost 2 and a bit and the only person to. Price was my dental hygienist 🤔😂

I’m the lightest I’ve been in over a decade!

ThirdStorm · 18/06/2025 13:37

80% of what I needed to. But I find most people avoid noticing through fear of offending and worrying the weight loss wasn't on purpose and due to illness.

ScrewedByFunding · 18/06/2025 13:41

About 4.5 stone

SilenceInside · 18/06/2025 13:41

Well, it depends on how obese you were to start with, as to whether losing a stone or so is noticeable or not. And then there’s a difference between when people notice and then when they feel they need to say something directly to you.

I had my first comment after about 4 to 5 stones loss. I was 22st with a BMI of 50 to begin with, and no one said anything about the first 1 to 3 stones as it really didn’t change people’s overall perception of me as massively fat.

TheFinePrintess · 18/06/2025 13:41

I think it depends alot on your starting weight - 1st loss on a size 14 will be more noticeable than 1st off a size 24.
I know someone who has lost 5st but she was >30st starting weight and tbh I can’t really see much difference

LightDrizzle · 18/06/2025 13:42

I think if you are a woman one problem is that people are understandably very wary of mentioning your weight at all, including weight loss, as people often hear the worst even when people genuinely intend a compliment.

“You look well!” = You look fat! (I only learned this was a thing recently)
“Have you lost weight?” = I noticed you were fat, obvs, but never mentioned it but you look less fat now.
“You look great! Have you lost some weight?” = You were looking like a right heifer but you look a bit better now you’ve dropped some timber.

So I definitely wouldn’t invest much on other people commenting as a measure of it being visible.

Congratulations on the weight loss so far! I’m losing a bit, at a glacial pace, but from past experience I know it is the next stone that makes the biggest difference to my appearance.

Pinkapron · 18/06/2025 14:58

Years ago, I lost five stone on lighter life, it took three stone before anybody noticed!

morbidcuriosity · 18/06/2025 15:06

It was about 4 and half stone for me.. but i started with bmi of 36, now 24..

endzone · 18/06/2025 15:16

I’m have lost 5 and a half stone and nobody had said anting other then the ones I discuss it with. I have a small circle though so not too many people to choose from

LessPorky · 18/06/2025 15:22

I started at 13.6 and I’m now 9.10.

Barely anyone has noticed. Those that did, noticed at around the 10 stone mark. I’m relatively tall, so I think I hid the fatness quite well.

Janie934 · 18/06/2025 15:29

I've found most people dont like to say anything about weight directly, unless they know for sure that you are dieting. Instead they tend to give more indirect compliments like "you're looking well" or "such a pretty face" or "you're glowing".

I've lost nearly 6 stone (but still have about the same again to lose as was v overweight to start with). No-one said anything until I'd lost around 4 stone, but definitely getting more comments now.

KarolKickie · 18/06/2025 15:31

What are people gonna say ‘oh you are on the injections then, how is it working out?’

that sounds mean - I noticed three women at work have lost loads of weight at the same time. What can I say that doesn’t sound bitchy???

MageQueen · 18/06/2025 15:36

A friend has had a similar experience. She's on around 11kg now and no one has noticed specifically.

I think in her case it's because she ballooned quite a lot over the last year or two and so while she has been overweight for a very long time, I think I tend to thnk of her as being at her "Old" overweight level. I know that almost every time I have seen her over the last year or so I have been surprised by how much heavier she is, but I haven't consciouslt noticed that I'm NOT being surprised anymore. Ie her actual weight now matches what I think she is in my head?

I also think people are hesitant to ask very very overweight people until they're at the poont where weight loss is extremely obvious and perhaps sustainable.

But I also think at very extreme levels, it is difficult to notice. I'm overweight and when I lost nearly 5kg last year, it was only really noticeable to me in how I felt and in one or two outfits. I THINK though, that if I'd lost the additional 3-5 kg, it woudl have been far more noticeable.

marshmallowfinder · 18/06/2025 15:36

I'd never ever comment on someone else's weight, regardless if I'd noticed or not.

LegleEagle · 18/06/2025 15:40

I think people use three categories: slim, fat and extremely fat.

When you drop from one category into another people notice but that can be many stones. I also think they may be loathe to comment if they still perceive you as overweight - only “slim” really gets their attention.

I once went from 13.5 stones to 9 stones, and it was only when I hit 10 stones that people started to comment, I think because I suddenly looked “slim” to them.

Yellowsubmarine55 · 18/06/2025 16:09

2 stone for me for people I don't live with as I started wearing smaller clothes and not sacks ( old bigger clothes 🤣)

Hubby comments every now and again about me looking slimmer
