Finally thinking of taking the plunge. Bupa seems insanely expensive, but is it best to start with a well-known supplier before shopping around?
Will the place which supplies you check it’s safe if you’re on other meds?
I’m going on holiday in about 5 weeks. Will they send me another 4-week dose before I go, or is it not worth starting now as I’d have to break while on holiday?
Feeling very uncomfortable today in the heat and unable to find clothes to fit and finally got the push I need to go for it.
GP has already referred but told me waiting list is about 2 years and I can’t face staying like this that long.
Thanks for reading!

Nobody answered so I'll give it a go:

All the pharmacies on monj are fine: https://monj.co.uk/discount-mounjaro-price-list/

Yes, that's what pharmacists are good at. They'll also write to your GP so it can be added to your NHS notes.

Yes or you can order again in 2 weeks or order a starter pack now if you want. I know simple online pharmacy do starter packs and they price match to all the discount codes on monj.

I'm so glad I started and I hope it goes well for you. Don't worry too much about side effects, not many people get them but the people who do happen to post to ask for help so you see people posting about side effects but there's a huge silent majority who are absolutely fine.

Just be aware that some of the pharmacies operate a subscription model where your next pen is sent out automatically after 4 weeks unless you tell them otherwise. The Monj website table has a column that shows if the pharmacy is a subscription or not. All the other non-subscription pharmacies will wait for you to re-order and it’s up to you when you do it.

The “starter packs” the PP mentioned are a bundle of two or three injection pens altogether, which will last you for two or three months.

You could just order your second pen and get it delivered before you go in holiday. The unused pens will keep in the fridge for several months, until the expiry date printed on them.

You don’t have to have a break from your medication when you’re on holiday. I take mine regardless.

Thanks everyone for the replies! The fridge comment made me just think - how is that going to work on holiday?! I won’t have a fridge in the room. Assume they do need to be refrigerated then?

It's only unopened pens that need a fridge. Opened pens can cope with being out in up to 30 degrees.

What I do is keep them in the fridge until first use.

I have a 12.5 in my fridge atm with an expiry of Jan 2027. It would be fine until Jan 2027 in the fridge. I could even keep ordering 10mg every month knowing I've got the 12.5 pen ready for when I need it as long as I use it before end of Jan 2027.

When I first use a pen I take it up to my wfh office where I keep all my mounjaro stuff away from my daughter. It's fine under 30°C in there for 30 days.

Thanks again for the replies! I have now ordered and it’s been confirmed, so feeling real! However I’ve also had an update on the NHS app from my GP that the referral to weight management has been rejected but it says to prescribe once available in the community at the end of June!! Does this mean GPs will be able to directly prescribe? Would save me a fortune!

It says “please start Mounjaro for weight loss when it is available in community from end of June. Please check new guidelines for use of Tirzepatide”

@MissMogs the NHS is supposed to be making Mounjaro available by local services, probably GPs but also other services, rather than just the specialist weight management. How it’s rolled out depends on your local NHS service and what they’ve planned. So it may be through your GP from the end of June, if you qualify. They are starting with people with a BMI of 40 or higher and at least 4 specific weight related health conditions. So, if you are in that category you may be offered it then.
