Anyone else obtaining their weight loss injections from Asda online doctors?

I've just started using Mounjaro at the 5 mg dose. Was previously with SheMed for 4 weeks on the 2.5mg dose but wasn't keen on their 'hand holding' approach,so switched to Asda last week. My question is:- Has anyone else who is with Asda had the issue of them NEVER answering your queries that you send them on the app via the messaging facility? I have messaged them on 4 separate occasions,on different issues, but as yet have not had a single response! Is it just me? I'm getting rather pissed off with them.

There's cheaper options. You can swap pharmacies every month for the cheapest price if you want to.

HansHolbein · 13/06/2025 21:49

Yes, they don’t really reply. The ordering, approval and collection was straight forward but the communication was really lacking.

They also don’t support maintenance (that I’m aware of) so I left them when I got under BMI 30.

SilenceInside · 13/06/2025 21:52

I used Asda initially as I was (unnecessarily) wary of the less well known pharmacies. I didn’t have a need to contact them about anything, and they fulfilled orders promptly. I moved away due to price, as they don’t offer any extra benefit for the prices they charge once you don’t have access to any discounts.

Pashazade · 13/06/2025 22:04

I’ve been with them for six months, not had any need to contact but not had any issues, I’m under 30bmi now but no issue with carrying on with them.

Ireolu · 14/06/2025 09:23

I'm currently with Asda but pricing is making me consider a move away to another provider. I am however weary as I need orders fulfilled in a predictable/timely manner. I dont have time to chase orders! Who did people switch to and are they happy?

SilenceInside · 14/06/2025 09:43

@Ireolui switched to Zava from Asda because zava were cheaper and also who Asda use to actually fulfil their orders. Then I moved to Pharmacy2U and now WePrescribe. Not had to chase anyone as yet.

SubDoserIV · 14/06/2025 10:08

I've ordered 13 pens from them now (over 12 months) and never had an issue with them BUT I've never contacted them with a query.

That's really disappointing to hear that they haven't been replying to your messages! I was going to contact them in a couple of months to ask if they had any plans to change their 'rules' (Only 2 years and only down to BMI 25 - as I want to get to BMI 24 and then maintain) - if not then I was going to change suppliers. I may do that earlier now - send a message and if I get no reply then change suppliers earlier rather than later. They're not that cheap either (even with a 10% off code that I always use), so this is very shoddy.

I use Pharmacy Express- they're cheap and reliable. I ordered my pen on Thursday and it's being delivered today.

Darlinghag · 14/06/2025 10:28

I have had responses, but generally after a long wait or after chasing.

I’ve stuck because they’ve never had stock issues for my dose, nor have they made me jump through hoops. Plus, delivery is DPD which works for me.

Currently doses up to 10mg are competitively priced - my 10mg went down £30 recently. I think 2.5mg was under £130. I assume the higher doses remain the same price due to stock issues at the moment.

As for maintenance - they look like they are starting to account for it - my email packs post order approval talk explicitly about maintenance, although I don’t think they offer packages for that yet.

As it stands, I’m sticking with them til either I need a higher dose (if prices don’t change!) or maintenance (if they don’t have a proper package) - as I will want a proper package for that!

Darlinghag · 14/06/2025 10:30

@SubDoserIV check your account approval messages for your last doses (april onward!) - maintenance discussions appear there! Its buried, I only saw it earlier this week!

morbidcuriosity · 14/06/2025 10:31

I used asda for my 1st pen, asked them about constipation and what I could take, I just got a copy and pasted reply saying its a known symptom.. I replied that I knew that, was asking what can I take and I got the same reply back..
I then realised its much cheaper elsewhere so only ever got that 1 from them. Moved to Zava next and have used a few different suppliers now for the discounts..

SubDoserIV · 14/06/2025 10:46

Thanks so much @Darlinghag ! Well spotted! I'm very pleased to see that they have changed from the 2 year/BMI 25 thing!

Just copying the relevant info here:

Once you have reached a healthy BMI (which is under 25 for most people) or your target weight if it’s higher, your aim should be to maintain your weight, rather than keep losing more. There is no evidence to say which dose you should use to do this, so it’s up to you to decide which one will be best for you to stay on to maintain a healthy weight without becoming underweight. Our doctors can help you assess as needed, simply send us a message (see our previous advice about tolerating side effects and dose reduction). We’d recommend aiming for a BMI of around 22-23.

If you need to drop your dose to maintain your weight rather than keep losing more, we'd suggest dropping down one or two doses to begin with. Then review your progress after a few weeks to see if you need to stay on that dose, or go up again or go down, depending on how well you're doing. You can maintain on any dose that feels right for you.

Remember, your aim should always be to make appropriate lifestyle changes whilst on treatment so that eventually you won’t need medication any more, and can continue maintaining a healthy weight without it.

Thank you everyone who has responded. Surprise surprise! I actually had a response to a query today that I sent them yesterday. First time ever. I've not had any other issues with them though. One of the reasons I choose them was because I don't have any suitable photo ID. I don't drive so therefore no driver's licence and my passport expired a few years ago and I've never got around to renewing it as I've not been abroad. A lot of the other companies insisted on a photo of a driver's licence or a current passport. Also on the plus side, delivery was really quick after I'd been approved.

It's probably cheaper overall to pay once to renew your passport than the co tinued higher price you will pay with Asda. I can't believe how much the prices vary between pharmacies but Asda seemed to be really expensive.

Eminybob · 16/06/2025 09:52

I was using them and had a the same issue as you with answering messages.
and when I did get a reply it was a stock response and didn’t really answer my question.
They then cut me off rather them offering a maintenance plan when I reached my goal weight however were never willing to answer any questions about maintenance or BMI limits.

I had been with them over a year paying over the odds out of ease really, but am now with Oushk for maintenance which is cheaper and much more helpful.

JohnTheRevelator · 16/06/2025 19:23

Eminybob Yes that's what I found. When they DID actually respond to a query,it was just a stock response, and left me none the wiser. I'll have a look at the suppler you've mentioned. Do they ask for photo ID? I don't have any at the moment,I'm going to renew my passport but obviously it will take a few weeks before it's done.

I made the switch! I ordered with Simple pharmacy online on Saturday and medication was with me yesterday. Very responsive and great service. Cheaper than Asda/quicker response time/less hassle. Glad I tried a new supplier.

SubDoserIV · 20/06/2025 10:01

Well done for making the effort to switch @Ireolu , I've been meaning to look into it for months but never got round to it!

I've just looked at simple, inspired by your post, and compared to ASDA prices and discovered that ASDA have reduced their prices!

15 mg is definitely lower than when I ordered it last month (and I always get 10% off), and lower than simple now.

I've attached a photo of the prices they are both showing today (I didn't look into simple discounts though). Ignore the dates - they should all say 20th - messed up copying it and cba to change it now!

@SubDoserIV i know there’s no code sharing here but where are you getting yours? I have only ever seen ones you can use for a first order!

Typical. I switch over then what I started out with is cheaper. Thanks for your post :)

I shared my referral code on the official MJ code discount code thread about 10/11 months ago, once, and got loads from there. Also had quite a few from Asda in emails. When I ordered last I had 42 in credit!

Sorry @Ireolu :(. Sounds like there are other advantages to simple though. Maybe simple will bring their prices down too. ASDA has always been on the slightly pricier side so I was surprised (and pleased) to see they are more in-line with other providers now.

I've just spotted ASDA have emailed me a £10 off voucher this morning too (and one the 21st and 23rd of May too). I wonder whether I can used that in addition to the 10% off...

I paid £204 (£183.60 with discount + £4.50 delivery = £188.10) for 15 mg last month from ASDA. It costs £198.98 (£179.08 + £4.50 delivery = £183.58) now. So not a massive difference but good to see the price coming down. The lower doses have come down a lot from when I was ordering them though!

The answer is no to that one. Just tried. It took the £10 off but then when I applied a 10% off code it over-rode the £10 off. Oh well! Anyway, check your emails for a £10 off code if you haven't got a 10% off code. I think they may have started send the £10 off codes in emails rather than 10% off now they have reduced their prices.
