I started ozempic 8 weeks ago. I just finished the 0.5mg pen and will be starting 1mg next week. I’m 59 and gained weight ++ over the past 5-6 years. I was very heavy in my 20s and early thirties. Lost 40kg in 2 years after my last pregnancy and kept most of it off until I was about 50 and it’s crept back again until I was 15kg from my highest weight and really panicking.
I picked ozempic because it’s a lot cheaper where I am. (Not UK).
I’m 10kg down in 8 weeks so thrilled. As I say I’m not even on the 1mg yet. It seems to be giving me willpower to eat normally.
I’m wondering if I’ll continue to do as well or when did people find they plateaued. I’d love to lose another 10kg but honestly am feeling so much better already and my BMI is down to 31. Obviously the goal should be less than 25 but I would settle for a sustainable weight with a BMI less than 30. I’m not sure whether I’ll switch to mounjaro if I plateau. It seems like a huge financial commitment for what would feel like the icing on the cake. Anyway, these are my ramblings. Just wondering about experiences of people ahead of me.
