are prescribing regs changing again, video consult required from July'25?

I've just seen a post saying all providers will have to do video consultations from 1st July. Searched online but I can't find any info? I know regs were tightened up recently, but if true, this will have a massive impact on ordering times going forward?

I've seen a couple of recent complaints about a provider who are doing first order video consults with a 4 week wait time on availability, but you're only made aware of this after you've ordered. Fortunately they are cancelling & refunding quickly for anyone who doesn't want to wait.

Any info on this? If correct, how often is it required? Completely understand why this might be happening & it's probably due, but need to be aware for ordering timescales.

Oushk are doing this and have been working through their existing customers since not long after the regs came out, I think you only ever have to do one with them, it takes 2 mins to do. They might also have said mandatory from 1st July. I expect other providers will, eventually, be similar.

It will only be for first orders at a new provider and after that ordering will be as normal, but will probably means those who bounce between suppliers for deals will find it harder to switch, I have no issue with it if it helps towards keeping patients safe.

I think providers are likely seeing the way the wind is blowing in terms of tightened regs and attempting to move proactively to adopt the kind of measures that may soon be mandatory, eg video calls.

Thanks, I agree it's a good idea & just a quick consult required, perfectly reasonable with how images can be so well manipulated now.

Found a few other posts on the provider I mentioned, it's Curate (not one I've looked at), but it was a couple of first orders & a 6 month review order too.

It will definitely make it trickier to swap provider every month if any delays in consultation availability. Something else to navigate!
