Ah @mince3point14159265 i wasn’t aware of that. Nor had I thought about the way trolls might weaponise it.

Also I didn’t know the Stately Homes thread was still going. I used to read that when I first started on mumsnet years ago. There were some heartbreaking stories. I’m also in the ‘WTF goes through my mother’s mind before she speaks?’ Club. We are currently ‘on a break’. sigh.
Not sure if it affects my eating habits though. She refused to cook anything when I was growing up because she claimed it was unfeminist to do so. She wasn’t a feminist in any other aspect of her life, but she used it as an excuse to feed me chips and Findus crispy pancakes every night

Zempy
hope you’re feeling better - are you holidaying alone? (Bliss! 😂)

Mothers are the best aren’t they! That comment on your wedding day 😡

I worked out the percentage of body weight I’ve lost today off the back of someone else mentioning it - I think it was Heidi - and it was 26.5% which I’m very pleased with. 50lbs altogether - I do like a nice round number.

Me too with the push to lose weight being largely to do with being 2 stone heavier (and 4 inches shorter) than dh. I’m pleased to report he’s now a good 2 stone heavier than me (I’ve been feeding him up too as he’d gone very thin and looked ill - largely to do with work stress) and things are back as they should be. He keeps on tickling my ribs though and saying I’m skinny - usually when I’m making food and holding a knife which I’ve told him isn’t a good idea (why do they always start grabbing you when you’re doing stuff?)

Am jealous of all the talk of fruit trees - I love every kind of fruit and our garden just has the one apple tree that is very choosy of when it decides to produce fruit. It has tiny apples growing atm for the first time in about 6 years! They are inedible though unfortunately - I used to always give them to a friend for her horses.

And in other news I treated myself to a new Rixo dress which arrived today - size 8 and it fits. I agree about vanity sizing though, I don’t believe I’m a “real” 8 at all.

That just made me laugh bc I was pretty much raised on chips and findus crispy pancakes too - except my dm didn’t claim to be a feminist, she just couldn’t be arsed!
To be fair she made the odd meal from scratch but everything was with chips done in the deep ft fryer 🤷‍♀️ We never ate out and I remember going out for a meal for the first time with my aunt and uncle when I was about 12 and thinking it was really posh - it was a Beefeater pub 😂

But to hear my dm talk you’d think she was the absolute perfect model of motherhood, I have to practically bite my lip clean off when I’m with her most of the time!

BlueLimes · 23/06/2025 22:38

I’ve missed loads of posts - sorry!
@TomorrowPenny glad that kg has gone !
@discov very impressive overall loss.
@Polkadotdash hope your break is positive for you, I’d brace myself to visit mine. @JoanCollinsDiva mine would have awarded herself a medal for her pretty crap parenting 😬
So now I’m a total pushover with DC- but I love putting them first.

HeidiNotSoHeavy · 24/06/2025 05:28

@JoanCollinsDiva fabulous to be 'proportional' to DH, isn't it? And not look like I'm eating all his food.

Bit of a mad week here. Everybody at work throws everything my way for review, as they want to clear their to-do lists before holidays. Besides that, I have for some reason for this particular week also booked a doc appointment for myself, dentist appointment, doc for DC's vaccinations and also dog grooming, just in case I didn't have enough running around to do. Not very smart. Oh, also have a dinner party with friends at ours this weekend, and both my DC have their birthday parties.

Zempy · 24/06/2025 07:11

That sounds dreadfully busy @HeidiNotSoHeavy. Make sure you set aside some time for yourself.

Yeah my so called childhood was a shocker. Lovely, charming largely absent alcoholic father. Nasty narcissistic mother who hates my guts. NC 13 years this time around and I will only feel relief when she dies.

I am here working, allegedly, so I have to pull myself together today. The translators get really long breaks, and yesterday was a conference so I got away with not returning after lunch, but today is small group sessions.

Im wondering if the coffee contributed to my dizziness. I don’t usually drink it, but am very “when in Rome” when travelling. I will pick up an electrolyte drink on the way there and then stick to water.

Thanks everyone.

myladyjane · 24/06/2025 07:13

@JoanCollinsDiva I live Rixo! Not for me sadly as I think I’m not tall enough but a friend wears a lot and I love her style.

my mother is actually genuinely lovely to be fair on the old bat. She is just a bit hard work at times - I am a total delight always.

@HeidiNotSoHeavyi too have over scheduled. I’m off on my medical thing for the rest of this week and you’d have thought I was going on a round the world cruise the number of ‘as you are off can you just sign off this first…’ It’s 4 days guys.

my dh is a foot taller than me and goes to the gym 4 days a week so he’s not a small lad. I was still heavier than him. Now I am not. Feels good.

have a lovely day losers

myladyjane · 24/06/2025 07:16

@Zempy take it easy my lovely. Avoiding coffee could be smart - I am caffeine sensitive and always avoid when I’m feeling ropey as it does make me dizzy. If it’s strong coffee and you are feeling sub par it probably won’t be helping. Good luck for today.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 24/06/2025 07:40

As ever, the conversation has moved on and I’ve essentially missed saying this, but @myladyjane - lucky you! And am very happy to help out eating your mother’s fruit. I love it all. Cherries in the shops are always really ropey so you’re especially lucky there.

I have a weird relationship with my mum in that she is the child and I am the adult - been like this for a long time - but that’s okay as long as it’s on that basis. My dad - no contact for many years - apparently he is bipolar, there’s no excuse for being slap happy. He told me I was “pale and uninteresting” (amongst other things) - his idea of humour, all of which used me as the butt of his ‘jokes’. I AM pale, but not, I hope, uninteresting.

tinyemmy · 24/06/2025 08:24

Sorry to hear about rubbish parents. Mine weren't great either, both were alcoholics, my dad mainly absent thank god as he was violent when drunk. We are estranged although in my 20s a therapist suggested getting in touch to "close the chapter" worst decision ever. I know get an email around my birthday and Christmas with pleasantries after a few disastrous meetings over the years. My mum ended up with liver cirrhosis and died. Although I thought I'd grieve the mum I wish I had I was sad when she died. Not sure why I shared all this, perhaps because you may find yourself sad when parents die even if you didn't think you would (although I'm not sure I will be when my dad goes, not really sure how I will know. He lives in Thailand). My other point is I think this amongst other things probably led to the emotional eating that I'm sure a number of us have. So it explains why many of us are here!

asparagusfearne · 24/06/2025 08:40

Hope today is brighter for you @Zempy

I have gone on full defence mode for my cherry tree- covered a few branches with pillowcases to keep the birds/squirrels off for the last few days of ripening 😂 the last few years I've been pipped to the post just as they were turning delightfully red. Not this time!

Thanks for the mention of boob or bust (sorry I can't remember who it was!) I just measured and it suggested I try 30GG?!!
Over the last couple of years I've crept from a 34DD when I was a 12 to 36E/38DD at a 16... was I really that far out? I will admit that I've not found bras comfy for quite a while, even when I've bought a new one which I thought fit well. A 30 band sounds minuscule!
Is it worth getting fitted in M&S too, or just trying on a load myself?

discov · 24/06/2025 08:44

I’ve finally got myself together and done a real food shop instead of getting ‘bits’ from co-op every few days. We get Gousto for DH and DD as DD is autistic and it really encourages her to try new meals. She gets to choose so it’s always meaty stuff and I am not a meat eater, so have something different 3 or 4 nights a week. But instead of having rubbish like a packet of super noodles or fried egg on toast like I have the past few weeks, I now have a fridge full of salmon, mackerel, salad etc. I’ve realised how easy it is for me to slip back into bad habits when I am busy and stressed so trying to get back into good eating as I always feel so much better for it!

I gained 0.4lbs last week but have lost 1.8 so far this week so hovering around 9st 4.4. I had set my goal for 9st which I am sooooo close to but I’m going to change it to 8st 7. I am waiting to hit 9st first on my app though just for my own satisfaction 😂

Also I think my melted candle looking stomach is slowly improving! Every lb really does make a difference at this point.

I’m so jealous of the home grown fruit. How lovely! We live in a mid terrace with just a small yard but I’d love a big garden with fruit trees. I did grow huge tomato plants one year then they got blight and I was so sad that I didn’t do it again 😄

discov · 24/06/2025 08:47

I forgot to say, even though I gained last week I feel like I have lost more rapidly since I hit the 9st range than I have the whole time I’ve been on MJ. But I don’t know if that’s just because I can see and feel a difference more now I am smaller. I expected losses to slow down massively but it’s been better than average!

Jins · 24/06/2025 08:54

I’m really fed up, sulphur burps and diarrhoea again!!!!

I’m losing a day or so every week nowadays. I thought side effects were less likely later on but I was fine titrating up until I hit 7.5mg. The rest of the week is fine so I should really just push through but it’s getting me down.

I was ok on holiday as I missed my jab and did a tiny top up later in the week and now I’m back I’m having side effects with a dose that worked brilliantly for me in the past. I’m currently calculating what doing a half dose every five days would look like

Polkadotdash · 24/06/2025 09:02

@JoanCollinsDiva oh yes, everything in the deep fat fryer. I can still see it now, the cream and brown Swan make one. It’s a miracle that my heart isn’t entirely made of lard. And my breakfast from the age of 10 was a coffee and three biscuits. I couldn’t really cook when I left home and I learned from various housemates at university.
I get my terrible chocolate addiction from my mother. I swear my blood type is Cadbury Dairy Milk. My 82 year old mother is a hoarder, particularly of food. She has an entire cupboard, floor to ceiling in the kitchen with biscuits, cakes and chocolate in. I once counted 72 full size Dairy Milk bars. She has two massive freezers full to the brim with ready meals and her sole activity for the week is to go to Sainsbury’s and spend £200 on food she doesn’t need. She’s a difficult woman. Our current situation is caused by the fact that she got married in April and refused to invite anyone but her husband’s daughter and son in law. I got totally flamed on another MN thread about it so I’m cautious about talking about it. But it really was the pinnacle of her ‘I will do what I like and screw you all’ attitude.

HeidiNotSoHeavy · 24/06/2025 09:04

@asparagusfearne noooo no fitting at M&S! They will 'fit' you with whatever they have in stock. Do you have Bravissimo near you?

ugh I am sorry you are still suffering! It’s so strange that you’re now getting side effects. You say it’s ‘only’ one day but I would feel exactly the same as you. It must be rotten knowing you’re going to be ill every week.

I’d be tempted to try a half dose every 5 days too. Which provider are you with? Are they the type to be good with advice?

discov · 24/06/2025 09:12

@asparagusfearne funnily enough I did BOB last night too and it put me at 28G. I’ve always found bras very uncomfortable, especially when they are wired/boned. I’ve always gone to Bravissimo in the past and still end up uncomfortable!

I did some research last night and worked out I have ‘bottom heavy’ boobs, so most of the tissue sits at the bottom and they are pretty empty/flatter towards the top, so I will apparently do better with a plunge or half cup style and will need to avoid anything padded/moulded as it will make them sit funny.

But I can’t really be arsed to go through the rigmarole of ordering various sizes and styles and sending them back etc etc. There’s no chance I’m ever going to find a 28G in the shops though!

I am still living in way too big pull on M&S bralette things which are horrendously unflattering so I definitely need to get sorted. I bloody hate bras and bra shopping!!

Jins · 24/06/2025 09:14

Thanks @discov I’m with Oushk and they are pretty good with advice. I had my maintenance call yesterday and mentioned it then but I think we came to the conclusion that as I have a full 7.5mg pen and I’m so close to goal I may as well just push through it. They aren’t going to recommend anything creative with dosing in any case.

So I’m back on the pepto bismol for now and will trial a half dose on Sunday

Yes you are right actually, they aren’t going to tell you to start taking half doses etc as I guess that would be against the rules!! I would definitely try it if you’re comfortable doing it though.

Will you start titrating down after you’ve finished this 7.5 pen? I have 3 doses left of mine but since I’ve readjusted my goal I’m not sure if I should stick with it for another pen now.

Jins · 24/06/2025 09:23

Ugh. Bra shopping is the worst!

I make my own nowadays but I’m going to do BoB just for a laugh. My problem is my finely developed axillary tails of Spence (not armpit fat!) so bought bras either give me unsightly armpit bulges or half empty cups.

I make These for everyday and These for sports bras but I do have a pattern for a ‘proper’ bra which I’ll get round to tackling eventually

Yes the plan is to titrate down.

We are currently the same weight with the same initial goal and we both want to adjust our goal slightly although I’m thinking about 8.9 or 8.10. I reckon that I’ll probably lose a few extra pounds while titrating down and I’m comfortable with that.

The long term plan was to stay on it long term as ironically it had cured my IBS. Hopefully that is still the case when I’m at lower doses

asparagusfearne · 24/06/2025 09:30

@HeidiNotSoHeavy thanks for the tip! Have just checked and there is one in town here so I will try and pop out at lunchtime.
And @discov thank you for the link, I would say I am bottom heavy too. Which makes sense, I have always thought that balcony/similar do more for my shape than fuller cups.

I'm excited to get something more comfortable but reluctant to spend too much with up to a stone still to lose. Especially as I think all of last week's weight came off the right boob and I'm waiting for the left to catch up!!

Polkadotdash · 24/06/2025 09:32

@discov Ive got ‘bottom heavy’ boobs (and losing weight is making it worse) but the only bra I have ever found that sits perfectly on me is the Satine from Bravissimo
