I’ve very much been an avid reader of this thread and everyone’s amazing losses, so thought I’d post to get your thoughts.

I’m 3 stone down and hit a brick wall of a plateau. It’s been there for about 3/4 weeks now and I can honestly say, it’s soul destroying. For those who’ve been there, have you just ridden it out or would you suggest a binge day or two to try and trigger my body to acknowledge I’m not starving myself to oblivion? I know I’m doing all the right things still; it’s the disappointment of the scales I’m battling in my head. My worry is that I’ll enjoy the blowout, put on weight and leave myself in a worse position. Aaargh, what to do??!!!

I've had at least a month of no loss in the past
I stopped weighing myself, and just trusted the process

Obviously sometimes I do weigh
But I often go 3/ 4 weeks not weighing
So I always get a loss then

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 17/06/2025 17:19

I only do it for three days max.

Wow, 3 days! I’ll try anything at this stage. Literally my weight is up 1lb one day, down 1lb the next, but the trend is very much stagnant. Going to give it a shot, thank you

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 17/06/2025 17:09

@FattyBumBumNoMore the one thing which gets me off a plateau is OMAD.

I drink lots of tea and water throughout the day, eat dinner at about 16.30, then nothing until the next day at 16.30.

That's what I do to 😊

Yes I’m my own worst enemy tbh. I’m a daily weigher so whilst I’ve been dropping the weight, I’ve found it really motivating, but now with the scales going nowhere…… I might get my husband to hide them from me 😂

PinkArt · 17/06/2025 17:35

I hit a similar plateau just past the 3 stone mark too @FattyBumBumNoMore. I just carried on carrying on and eventually everything started moving again. Keep the faith!

I read somewhere that it's a good idea to weigh every day ,to see how your body retains fluid ,and hormones and salt and responds to exercise .
But it was never going to work for me ,as a bad day on the scales, means a bad day mood wise ..and I'm trying to be kind to myself

FattyBumBumNoMore · 17/06/2025 17:42

@PinkArt Yep, keep the faith. That will be my mantra!
@Bulldogsummer daily weighing has been great for me until now but every morning I’ve stormed out of the bathroom saying whaaaaatttt??!!! I’m going to try the extended fast and omad as I do sometimes feel as though my stomach processes food slowly. I’m still on 2.5mg as my suppression is strong despite being 5 months in.
Thanks to you lovely people for the advice, I really appreciate it!!

Before I started MJ I was stuck at 202lb from 9 long months and that's why my average weight loss over the more than 2 years since I started works out so very low. But I never went up. Started MJ in September I think and am now about 165lb, so still very slow. I'm OMAD and when I get stuck now I have maybe a lunch for 250 cals or an ice-cream and that usually causes a loss. I couldn't eat less, and I don't excercise so for me it's a few more calories

Doggymummar · 17/06/2025 18:03

I also had an HRT review today in light of the new Eli Lilly recommendation I read on Facebook I think the Oushk site that said there was evidence it messes with absorbing of progesterone. The Dr hadn't heard if it so he is checking it out. My blood pressure was 137/98 tho which apparently is high so I've to go back on Thursday for more tests. Boo but I had actually lost 7 stone since they last recorded my weight not the 6.3 I thought I had lost. I must have been in denial !

Elle771 · 17/06/2025 20:50

Found you all again 😅🥰
Amazing to see some impressive losses!! 👏🏼

I'm just finding as well ,I don't even know what I like clothes wise ,or at 52 what I should wear .I see something I like ,and then think ...would I actually wear it out of the house ,the answer is always no.
I like the stripy trousers on ticktok and gingham dresses..but I feel to old.
I don't know what's in fashion for 50 year old woman..the things I like are being worn by 20 something's.
Before I just wore what I had in ,I'd been a size 32 a very long time ,so I had a full wardrobe to choose from.
Now my draws and wardrobe are empty ,and I'm going to have to buy some clothes for the summer..

I’m 58, there’s no way that I’m going to dress how the media think I should dress, my favourite dresses are from Run & Fly, I’ve had to have a couple taken in as I love them so much. If I could just shrink this stomach I’d be sporting Lucy & Yak dungarees. Dress in something you love, not what you think other people think you should wear and if you love what the 20 somethings are wearing then do it! I’m currently contemplating a nose piercing 🤭

So my random questions of the day.

*Those of you who have lost a lot already - when did it start to slow down? Was it like you got to "overweight" and then it was slow or before that?

*Actual shops.... What sort of size do they go up to in store/stock have people found? I'm wondering when I could safely brave one!

My loss really slowed down after about six stone.

High St shops generally have clothes up to a 22.

Mind you, that's irrelevant for me, as I live in a remote Scottish village, and the nearest High St is three hours away.
🤣

So Vinted and Ebay are my High St.

I’m a daily weigher too… I’ve been very lucky so far, it does go up and down through the week but always rights itself on weigh day. I do two 500 calorie days a week, so not a total fast, but I have one meal of an evening that’s usually about 400 cals, the extra 100 will go on coffee and an apple, I lost weight before starting MJ doing this, then came to a grinding halt and only managed to maintain, got frustrated and fell of the fasting wagon. I at least know that I can maintain my weight when I’m no longer on MJ, scary thought though (not being on it) at the moment!

SilenceInside · 17/06/2025 23:19

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden my weight loss slowed down after about 6 stone, but has stayed at a steady and consistent rate for a while now. I’m still obese (so bored of that now), but may just creep into the overweight category soon. I think slow down is inevitable as I can’t create the large calorie deficits so easily anymore as my TDEE has reduced a lot. That’s why I started Couch to 5k, for some additional calorie burn as well as for fitness.

WafflingDreamer · 18/06/2025 05:59

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I was averaging 1stone every 6 weeks for the first 4 stone then it took me 2 months to loose stone number 5.

I calorie count and weigh everything. I was averaging 1500/1600 at the beginning but as I've lost weight that means my TDEE is getting lower so its harder to create the larger defecits I could in the beginning. I've dropped my calories to 1300/1400 most days but even on 12.5mg I still get hungry and I have some weeks where my food noise is loud and I eat crisps and biscuits and end up over my goal

GnomeDePlume · 18/06/2025 07:07

NSV: we have eaten outside for a number of days in a row. This has come about because I am more comfortable generally moving around.

Good news from the hospital in that no further action required (dermatologist checking out some dodgy looking moles). This is a relief for him and me as because I am on warfarin anything surgical would get messy.

WafflingDreamer · 18/06/2025 07:12

That's great news @GnomeDePlume.

I've found this weather really weird so far, normally in these kinds of temperatures my face would be red within 5 minutes of leaving the house and I'd be a sweaty mess by the time I had all 3 kids home from school but this week I've been OK.

I've pretty much lost about a pound a week since the start with a really long plateau at 202lb. I was quick from 250 to 202 then stuck their for 9 months. I then changed to MJ from RY and it stated again. Currently stalked for about a month around 166.

I live in a small town with only next Roman and Marksies so have shopped online for at least the decade we have lived here. I tend to see things I like on Vinted and buy them for when I get there, oftentimes they fit already. If they are too big. Or don't suit I relist them.

eibbed999 · 18/06/2025 09:12

Morning all! Loving reading all your advice and anecdotes, so helpful to not feel alone with all of this isn't it? So, weigh-in day for me, and jab number 14. I'm down another 2lb, bringing the total loss to exactly 3 stone. I've also snuck into the 18s - admittedly at 18 stone 13 lb! I'm up to about 13k steps a day now, which I'm delighted with - I've mentioned before that I had two ankle surgeries last year after an accident and it's been a long road to recovery, I'm sure the weight loss is helping. As a few of you have said, I'm also coping a lot better with the heat. Sticking with 2.5mg from a 5mg pen as it's still working effectively.

This is all very good news, and I'm very happy and confident to continue, but it still also feels like such a mammoth task doesn't it? I know logically the key is to focus on each win, and to break it down into achievable goals and celebrate reaching them, but sometimes your logical brain is over-ridden. The less logical part says 'screw logic! This is gonna take foreverrrrrrr!;

Anyway, keep on losing everyone!

PearlsPearl · 18/06/2025 09:21

Congrats on your 3 stone @eibbed999 I really celebrated when I got into the 18s too last week! And it's amazed me how much my mobility has increased just on a 3 stone loss, so I’m excited to see what will happen as I keep going down.

It is a long old slog. But the way I see it is I'd probably have just carried on gaining weight, at least this way the scales are going down.

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 18/06/2025 09:35

Another slow loser here, currently stuck in a long plateau!! As @PearlsPearlsays, I’m consoling myself in the knowledge that I’m already a lot slimmer and happier than I was last summer

also I’m finding the warm weather so much more bearable, and that’s definitely the mounjaro, not the fact that I’m smaller. I’m currently size 20, I’ve been as low as size 14 in the past and could never handle the heat at all. I’m in London today where it’s warm already and I’m almost enjoying it!

I’m on month 8 of this treatment and my weight loss isn’t showing any signs of slowing down yet, I average 10lbs each month, admittedly I’m not in the ‘overweight’ range yet, have a way to go before I get there, but get there I will!

When I first started braving the ‘normal’ clothes shops I started taking a tape measure with me, it’s easy to discreetly measure the bust and waist to get an idea of the fit. Most shops have 22s, some 24s, but if you start off in supermarkets their sizing is very generous, I can fit into 18s in the likes of Asda and Morrisons but I’m (according to some size charts) a 20 bottom and a 22 top.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 18/06/2025 09:50

@eibbed999 thats amazing, 3 stone feels like such an accomplishment doesn’t it!
