Bleeding whilst on Mounjaro

I'm 53, on HRT and have the morena coil for progesterone. Since initial months of the coil 5 years ago, I've had very occasional spotting but not for a while pre starting Mounjaro so I have no idea whether I am still menstruating or am post menopausal.. Now I've been on 2.5mg Mounjaro for 7 weeks with pretty much zero side effects, except I have some bleeding. I've read about lack of progesterone absorption when taken orally but not via coil. Anyone else experienced this? I guess I should speak to my GP but I'm a bit embarrassed to! I can see on my NHS record that my online prescriber has notified by GP about my Mounjaro use.

The progesterone issue is for oral progesterone and due to slower gastric emptying meaning the pill is not getting absorbed correctly, your mirena will otherwise work as normal.

Rapid weight loss can affect your hormones as estrogen is stored in fat cells (I'm 2 years post meno and started HRT in January because of returning hot flashes).

Unfortunately embarrassment and women's health always seem to go hand in hand, but don't let it put you off getting unexpected bleeding checked out.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I've been pretty steady in weight loss, with around a stone in 8 weeks so not too rapid, but you're right I'll make a GP appointment as the Mounjaro is probably circumstantial and not related.

Definitely see GP, I had same on week 5 first 5mg jab and assumed it was hormonal due to mounjaro but saw GP and referred for 2 week gynae appointment, I went this week and was convinced they would just say no problem but something showed up on scan and I’m now waiting a pre op appointment to get it removed and tested under GA. I had mirena coil removed last June and biopsy done that was all clear so whatever they found wasn’t there last year. I’ve read a lot about jab affecting hormones though.
