Anyone microdosing mounjaro?

Fluffypiece · 06/06/2025 07:43

I am! W1 D3. Doing 0.5 for 2 weeks moving to 1.0 for the next 2 weeks and then will review with dr

so far mild effects but a reduction in hip pain that has plagued me for years - don’t know if that’s just psychological. No SE

(I know some people feel strongly anti re microdosing - I’m doing it with a dr and I’m happy with my choice - not advocating it for anyone else just would like to connect with anyone doing the same)

After reading the comments I’m curious because if it’s safe and effective after 30 days then surely people would be buying the 15mg pen and using it for loads of smaller dosages? So if they wanted 2.5mg they could use the 15mg pen 24 times? Not judging I’m genuinely curious?

24 times? Can you break it down, because i cannot work this out at all

If you leave it in the fridge it will last 6 months or more

According to the manufacturer instructions it’s 30 days after first use, not 6 months. Did you just make that figure up?

I've been told by the manufacturer that I bought from that the pens don’t start losing potency if kept in the fridge until after 6 months when the efficiency starts to lessen and I can only go off my experience with my pens which were 90mg and lasted 6 -12 weeks depending what dose I was on and lost over 5 stone in the process I’m not in the habit of making things up , I was just quoting what I was told by my supplier and my experience with it

2.5mg x6 = 15mg and then times that by 4 as there are 4 doses

SilenceInside · 08/06/2025 18:04

@summersleftus perhaps people are mixing up the two different expiry timelines? An unused pen will keep in the fridge for several months, up until the expiry date printed on the pen. Once a pen is in use, it expires after 30 days regardless of whether it’s in the fridge or not.

If you choose to use a pen for longer than the 30 days, that’s up to you to judge the risk for yourself and to be aware of hygiene and storage risks. The preservative used will degrade over time, and each use introduces a risk of contamination.

Yes I understand that , my supplier told me the only risk was the pen may lose efficiency over time but usually not until around 6 months unless kept out of the fridge so to me the risks were minimal and my weight loss proved this to be true for me though I’m sure everyone is different and people should follow what their supplier tells them

Yes I buy 90mg pens so they last me 6 weeks at 15mg a week

SilenceInside · 08/06/2025 18:11

I am amazed that a supplier would tell you that it’s ok to keep an open pen for 6 months and that the only risk is reduced efficacy. When there is a clear and obvious contamination risk.

SilenceInside · 08/06/2025 18:12

@summersleftus there are no 90mg pens.

I am a bit confused.

You don't buy any WLI from "the manufacturer" only a UK registered pharmacy.

What is 90mg? That doesn't relate to any Wegovy or Mounjaro dose.

Which manufacturer and medication are you referring to?

No, it must be not from Eli Lilly.

The mg refers to the amount of product in the pen but I’m on the highest dose at 15mg so the pen lasts 6 weeks -not uk bought

Londonmummy66 · 08/06/2025 18:17

@Fluffypiece did you get a private GP to prescribe it? If so can you PM me their name as I'm desparate to do this - I have damaged my knee so all cardio is currently out and the 10kg I battled so hard to lose the traditional way last year is piling back on as I can't exercise. I'm so depressed about my weight and not being able to run that the comfort food cravings are insane at the moment. I'd do anything to be able to microdose.

Which medication and dosage of pen? If you can be a bit more specific your comments might make more sense.

Mounjaro top dose is 15mg these is a max of 5 x 15mg = 75mg doses in a pen.

There is only one manufacturer of Tirzepatide, and that is Eli Lilly's product Mounjaro (or Zepbound in US which has different preservatives than the UK product and different storage instructions)

I get 90mg pens of terzepatide so 6 x 15mg, non uk , I’ve been using for 14 months and not had any problems with it and can only state what I was told by my supplier -I have no idea if this is right or wrong but can say it’s worked for
me

I'm thinking of doing this.

I recognise that there's a risk involved with going over 30 days from being opened, but I figure that I take all kinds of risks every day, so I'm willing to give it a go.

Pros:

  • Significantly cheaper, even if including extra syringes

Cons:

  • I'm going to have to be careful to minimise infection risk. I think that is doable
  • Maybe the medication breaks down and is less effective. I won't know this without trying.

Eli Lilly, the only manufacturer and owner of the patented tirzepatide, does not supply Mounjaro in pens of those doses and does not supply via any other suppliers. They supply tirzepatide under the brand names Zepbound in single use pens in the US, or in Kwikpens in Europe. They also sometimes supply single use vials in US (due to pen component shortages).

It does sound like you are buying counterfeit tirzepatide mixed by god knows who under god knows what conditions and taking a huge risk with your health. Damage which might not be apparent for years.

If you want to take the risk injecting an unknown counterfeit compound into yourself that is up to you, but it is very irresponsible to give any advice to others based on what your dodgy supplier says.

As stated earlier I wasn’t giving advice just what I was told and my experience over the last 14 months -I’m very happy with my choices enjoy the rest of your evening

WeAllHaveWings · 08/06/2025 19:01

@summersleftusyou posted “If you leave it in the fridge it will last 6 months or more” without any clarification you are sharing that advice based on counterfeit shit and an illegal and untrustworthy source until others questioned it.

Play with fire injecting god knows what into your own body if you want to, but please don’t take risks with others. This isn’t selling dodgy firesticks down the pub, your “advice” could result actual harm.

Thisshirtisonfire · 08/06/2025 19:04

Yes I did for a while because it effected me so intensely. I could barely eat on 2.5ml.
I'm 5st down now and I was doing 1ml every 2 weeks.
I've stopped now as even that micro dose was causing me some gi issues.
I'm doing well maintaining my weight so far.
I think it can be so variable how it effects people. For some 2.5 does absolutely nothing and for others it's too much.
The people for whom it does nothing at low doses do not understand the powerful effect it can have. Some people need to micro dose if they are to use it at all

Thisshirtisonfire · 08/06/2025 19:06

I wish they made smaller dose pens as no i didn't like using my pen past it's recommended use by date.
However it's just what I had to do.

summersleftus · 08/06/2025 19:13

The only advice I would give to anyone is do your own research , there is plenty of advice out there stating the biggest risk to using beyond 30 days is lessened efficiency, and the other risks you refer to are for a very small amount of users -weigh up your options as if you didn’t and decided to microdose (which as far as I’m aware doctors don’t recommend but it’s a personal choice )you would be throwing away more pens than you’d use I did my research and am not taking any risks with others,
