Started Mounjaro 2 weeks ago. 2.5mg. First week was fine. No real side effects. Lost 5lb. Great.

Second week and my appetite had gone entirely. Struggling to eat but it seemed anything I did eat wasn’t, ummm, coming out the other end. I think I stupidly dropped my water consumption. Been horribly, horribly backed up for the last 5/6 days. So uncomfortable. Got over the counter laxatives but I ended up having to get Laxido yesterday from GP. I am due to jab this evening, but I think it’s going to take a few days to feel more normal and I’m going to delay jabbing for a few days until I feel a bit better.

Must add in more fibre and keep my water consumption up. Has this happened to anyone else?

Oh I don’t know why my comment was hidden… I was linking to a Magnesium supplement from Nutrition Geeks 🤷‍♀️

I've been on MJ for 6 months and this has happened to me a few times. I found glycerin suppositories so helpful. After inserting, waited 15 mins and they totally cleared the problem.

It is designed to slow down your digestive transit. Be careful.

Yes and it’s the worst part for me and I’m 5 weeks in.
I drink at least 6 pints of water daily and eat quite a lot of prunes. Also put chia seeds on breakfast yoghurt.

I’ve just started movicol to see if that helps. Have also previously taken dulcoease which also helps. Both of these are stool softeners and my local pharmacist who supplies the WLI suggested them. I’m aware that the softeners are ok for fairly frequent use but not the stimulants such as Senna etc which can cause a lazy bowel with extended use.

Psyllium Husk and Magnesium Citrate tablets, two of each daily (I find they work well if taken before bed) and plenty of water. For me they took about 4 days to get working.

Gardengirl108 · 04/06/2025 22:28

Eat some dates to get things moving before the Psyllium and Magnesiun kicks in. But not too many. Good luck!

Cheffymcchef · 04/06/2025 22:29

Take some lactulose. Senna probably won’t get it all out.

I take dulcoease now before I resort to the glycerin suppositories, but yes - I feel your pain!

It seems to be one extreme or the other for some.
