Mounjaro & severe diarrhoea

Hi all,

I am 6 months into taking mounjaro, I took my third dose of 7.5mg last week and three days after taking it I had 3 horrendous days with severe diarrhoea. I’m unsure if this was a bug/something I ate or the mounjaro.

has anyone else experienced this?? I was due to take it again yesterday but I’m worried about the same thing happening and having to take more time off work.

This happened to my DH, he was about 3 months in, went up to 7.5mg and then got S&D, literally nothing stayed in. He missed a week then tried again on 7.5mg (on the advice of the pharmacist), then the following week went down back down to 5mg, within 24 hours of each injection he started again both times. He decided to stop in the end as he was too poorly.

The doctor in a&e originally said it was likely he caught a bug and the MJ had exacerbated it but we’re still not sure.

Thankfully since stopping, he’s managed to continue eating calorie deficit without the MJ. (I have too after a supply issue & holiday).

Im not saying this will happen to you. Just sharing his experience.

That happened to me while I was still on 2.5. Eventually I gave up, as even lower doses re-triggered it.

I had this on 2.5, about 5 days in total. Could barely leave my bed. I think it was set off by something oily I ate. I left it 10 days between jabs then took 1.25, was fine and went back to 2.5 the next week with no repeat of the problems. I’m on 3.75 now, incrementing slowly. Am very sensitive to it, constipation and slow gastric emptying I find uncomfortable. But no return of diarrhoea.

I've experienced this and the symptoms resolved. It seemed to relate to what I ate around the injection dates so I am extremely careful now.

I had this when I went up to 15mg after 3 weeks. It’s probably a sign you need to go down

I experienced this after going up to 12.5mg. Am back on 10mg with no issues. I found Imodium helpful - hope you’re feeling better soon.
