And havnt yet dropped a dress size. How much longer am I going to have to wait. Started at 19.2 stone now 16.6 stone. Guess some of my clothes feel a bit more roomy but a size down still doesn't button up.

Well done on the weight loss. I don’t know the answer to the dress size but in the meantime, celebrate what the scales show 👏🏻

Don't take this the wrong way, but are you apple shaped?
I am, and it often means I can't button trousers up on my waist but they are too big on my bum, hips and thighs.

Edited to say well done on the weight loss 🎉

You’re doing great! I can empathise so the way I coped was doing my waist, arm and hip measurement, as despite not dropping clothes sizes I was dropping inches which made me feel better!

This is something I’ve read on here and other forums before, but think of it like a roll of paper towel. When it’s a full roll removing a sheet makes no difference, the less roll there is the more difference a single sheet makes.

i started as size 22/24 at just under 16 stone, it took a good 3 stone loss before I had to drop a size because my clothes were too baggy. Now I’m 10 st 10 lb and yesterday I was trying on size 12 jeans and they did up comfortably, so dropped several dress sizes with about 2 stone additional weight loss.

I can commiserate OP, I’ve lost 3st (2st since starting MJ), still waiting for my belly to catch up with the hips and thighs. It’s the only thing keeping my trousers up. I’m sure it won’t be long though.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 29/05/2025 09:39

Hi op, I also started MJ at 19st 2 lbs, it was around the 3.5 stone mark I really started to drop sizes. It just suddenly creeps up on you, I’m 5 stone down now and have dropped 4 (sometimes 5 depending on the brand) sizes , I’m also apple shaped - well done on a great loss!

myladyjane · 29/05/2025 13:23

Me too - I started at an 18/20 and over 2.5 stone down I am a 16/18 and got some size 20 trousers a couple of weeks ago.

i am an hourglass with a lower tummy - my waist has decreased a lot but my hips and thighs not so much and my tummy is still very prominent. My lower legs/back/arms and face are all much slimmer but that doesn’t impact clothes sizes really does it.

With MJ you lose visceral fat first.
Visceral fat is located deep inside the abdomen, surrounding and nestled among the internal organs, such as the stomach, liver, intestines, and kidneys.
The subcutaneous fat, under the skin, you lose after the visceral fat.

I am exactly the same, been on MJ for 6 months reached 3 stone mark today. My waist size pre MJ, was a tight elastic waist size 20. Now I can fit into fitted size 20, elastic size 18 (but it’s tight) .

You are doing amazing, keep going, onwards and downwards and your internal organs are so much healthier as they are no longer fatty!

You can do this💪

this is a link to an excellent video that explains the benefits of losing visceral fat and the importance of doing strength training/ exercise.

It is based on fact, papers written and studies.

It is just under 1 hour long, it is well worth a watch.

Weightloss is weird - I've lost about the same, and went down 2 sizes, then I've not lost anything at all in about 2 months, yet suddenly I can fit some jackets that were previously way too tight on my arms - as if the weight has redistributed itself.

But like the kitchenroll example above - at the beginning, I didn't feel like it was making much difference, then suddenly it was as though something shifted and more things started fitting

I really like this analogy!

I've lost 5 and 1/2 stone and probably gone down 3 sizes. But when I look at recent photos of myself my new clothes still look too big so I am a bit flummoxed in general!

PearlsPearl · 31/05/2025 11:12

I started at 22.3 stone and have lost 3 stone now and my clothes feel exactly the same. I only see my face a little bit less puffy! So where has it gone from?! No idea!
