MJ with underactive thyroid - anyone else with pain / thyroid swollen?

Hi All, worried and not sure what to do!
I've had an under active thyroid for best part of 10 years. It’s been very stable over this time and I had an ultrasound last summer. In October I started on MJ (suggested by my endocrinologist) as I had gained 5st over the 10 years. I’ve been going up slowly in MJ doses and lost 4st, got about 10lb to go. I’m currently on 10mg which I’ve been on for about 6 weeks. My thyroid has never ever caused me pain over the 10 years but over past 6 weeks or so it feels like a choking feeling. Never ever had this before and now I’m concerned that the MJ is causing my thyroid to swell or something worse. Saw my endo yesterday and he’s ordered another ultrasound and new bloods. He doesn’t seem overly worried but there must be some sort of link with MJ. I had been planning to go up to 12.5 to get the last bit of weight off (which I’ve told my endocrinologist) but I’m scared to do that now. Do you think I should proceed with going up, continue taking MJ at current dose until I have had scan done (won’t be for another month as sonographer is away!!) or actually taper back down with a view to coming off completely? It’s really uncharted waters with MJ and my endo has nothing to really go on without the scan and bloods (he felt my thyroid and said it feels grade 1 swollen) - but I just know this isn’t normal for me. Anyone else had anything similar on MJ?

I only read about a link to thyroid cancer in studies on mice but to be honest I'd stop if I were you. It may not be related to MJ at all but i would stop until I knew for definite

Honestly I’d go with what your endocrinologist wants you to do. He knows your medical history and has seen you in person, and is an expert in these things. So, I wouldn’t disagree with what someone in that position was saying, unless I thought they were making a really obvious mistake.

Yes that’s right it’s only in rats but I agree with you that ideally it would be best to stop, the only thing is that my weight loss needs to continue for my BP and I don’t want to undo the hard work I’ve put in so far so I think I will titrate back down slowly.

Would 10lbs make that much of a difference to your BP when you have done so well with your loss already? Is it worth the risk? You said its like a choking feeling, that is worrying. If you find it is linked would you be ok with the fact you carried on anyway? There will still be some in your system for a while if you did stop.
This is just my opinion everyone else may disagree with me completely. I just think it could be a warning sign.
(I am on mounjaro myself so not saying this as someone who is anti-jab)

@MrsMiagi totally valid points and all things I’m thinking of. I think my endo reckons I need to lose more than 10lb for BP (10lb was my own personal goal and I’d still be on bottom end of “overweight” by BMI) but I agree a warning sign that I shan’t be ignoring. Back to 8.75 on jab day tomorrow!!
