Last 2.5mg dose in the pen but no supression at all

I have my last 2.5mg dose to take tomorrow and my next pen is 5mg. Ive got no suppression at all, can eat full meals again whereas I couldn’t before without feeling full.

I’m wondering if I could administer my last dose then just add 1.25mg golden dose (I have the correct syringes) straight after. Has anyone done that?

No don't do it. This is a prescription medication and you should treat it as such. Take the prescribed amount and follow the guidelines.

Lots of people dose 3.75mg with their 5mg pen, it was more if it’d work with a 2.5mg or bot. Not chancing anything dangerous don’t worry. It just seems a waste to throw the last official 2.5mg dose away but I don’t want to have another week where I have no suppression and not losing any weight. So I’m stuck what to do for the best.

im wary of going straight to 5mg too, so was advised I could start with 45 clicks for 3.75mg on the 5mg pen anyway

I wouldn’t, just because you’re experiencing some hunger towards the end of the week. That’s not unusual at all and not a reason to vary the dosing schedule. The medication builds each week so your next 2.5mg will raise your levels higher than they’ve been to date already.

I’ve had good suppression in the last three months on 2.5 but not losing for past the past two weeks and now the suppression has gone and food noise is back in the past weekthat’s my issue. Just I’m not supposed to start the 5mg one for another week.

Oh I thought you’d only done 3 weeks of 2.5mg.

If you do two injections tomorrow, you should do each one in a different site. You could do 2.5mg and then extract the remaining liquid and do another 1.25mg (0.3ml) to get 3.75mg in total. Then start the 5mg next week.

What about the dose that’s left in the pen after the four have been used? Do people throw that away? I’d like to use it.
op I don’t see what’s wrong with going for 3.75 if you’re going from 2.5 to 5 anyway. That can’t be wrong surely? You’d have a couple weeks on 3.75 then go to 5

Be patient. It is not a crash diet, you are having a medical treatment with a dosing schedule to get your body used to processing the medication.

4 weeks min on each dose increase. Fine to do a step up of 3.75mg after you have completed 4 weeks at 2.5mg but then you need to plan to still do 4 full weeks at 5mg before next increase.

I would, OP. Lots of people go to 3.75mg by counting clicks before moving up to 5mg. If you've got the correct syringes I can't see the harm in doing two injections, one at 2.5mg and the other at 1.25mg. I can't see how it could be dangerous to do so, even with two injection sites. Like I say, I'd do it without a second thought. I'm sure you already know, but to get 1.25mg you need 0.3ml of the liquid.

Yes I use the bonus dose with no problem. As long as you have insulin syringes with needles safe for human use and the pen has been stored properly it's fine

Eating full meals is normal, thats what you are supposed to do - what have you been doing?

The medication is building up concentration in your body for the first 4 weeks of each new dose before levelling off, and during this time your body is getting used to processing the medication. The 4 weeks min on each full dose is an important instruction to help avoid unpleasant or significant side effects.

This is great to know. What is left after the 4? A full dose or half? I have syringes for treating animals. I don’t want to throw the rest of the meds away. I’m only on fourth week though. And I’ve chosen to stay on 2.5 for another month. So maybe on week 7 and week 8 I should use the bonus shots from the two syringes

I did this, I was absolutely fine, took the golden dose with a syringe and some out of my five with the needle to make up to 3.75 food noise quelled again, satiety and suppression back on track took another 3.75 then went up to five.

Thanks so much everyone. I have been doing it since March on 2.5mg but noticing in the past week the suppression I had has completely gone.

it was more wrapping my head around injecting the last 2.5mg proper dose and then adding on 1.25mg from the remaining liquid in the pen.

Two different sites is necessary, you shouldn’t inject into the same spot twice.

Taking the bonus dose is absolutely fine. Injection in a different site. You can either go to 3.75 or straight to 5. There's always enough left in the pen for another full dose.

@Hysterectomynext if you've chosen to stay at 2.5 just take the golden dose at dose five which is actually usually more than than a dose ,it has been in the pens that I've had so measure it in your syringe if you don't want to take more, 0.6 on a 10 syringe is a full dose discard pen then start new one and do the same with the next pen

Just ask a chemist if it’s ok to do two injections you’ve been told to take 3.75ml anyway
