Restarting MJ

I was planning on stopping for a few weeks then restarting on 2.5. Is this likely to help with weight loss/make any difference or is it pointless? The cost is getting to me and I’ve been on 15mg for 4 weeks now and my weight loss has hit a standstill. I’ve lost 16kg but have another 16kg to go.

Why would reducing the medication help, if you are already plateauing on 15mg?

Is there anything you could do to shake things up a bit? Exercise, weight training, more water, more protein, and so on?

A lot of people apparently plateau for a few weeks and it's just a case of pushing through. Have you been tracking calories? I also read about zig zag dieting and that some people are eating too little and are plateauing - this actually worked for me as I wasn't eating or drinking enough.

Are you suitably hydrated? Can you fit in a few more steps or exercise classes?

I watch a lot of MJ Tiktok & some of the lives done with representatives from the pharmacies themselves.
I had heard of this being used as a tactic & working for some people (more so just dropping down 1 or 2 doses) but in your case I think it is too soon to be thinking like that especially if you still get the effects on 15 but maybe not just the weight loss at the moment?
Check that you are still in a calorie deficit & wait it out / shake things up a bit.
Try different injection sites if it is the suppression / not feeling fuller for longer you are not getting.
I have heard of people using a larger needle size & that making a difference but that could all be in the mind.

I’m trying to understand your logic here op

Tour weight loss has stagnated on 15

So you suggest dropping to 2.5?

Redlightbulb · 21/05/2025 15:19

@Surprisinglyeasy
I think she might be wanting to do it due to the cost of 15
@jodesxx Did you jump up the doses every month by any chance? if so was that because you were not getting good enough effects or just slow weight loss?

I understand that’s the motivation re the change

but the solution makes zero sense in terms of weight loss

I heard someone say that if you stop using it for a few weeks then restart it can kick start the weight loss. Maybe I’m wrong.

ill try going back to tracking everything and Ineed to up my fluid intake

All the posts I've read about taking breaks and restarting due to surgery or finances, resulted in barely any suppression or satiety until higher doses as the body is already used to it, so that's the risk you would take and it could set you back months.
I'm on 12.5mg at 10st 8lbs bmi 26.2 and I still lose consistently but I am strict with tracking my food and stick to my calorie deficit of 1200 and increased protein and water and limited carbs. A few times when I've eaten heavier carb days, I usually gain water weight and see a stall until back to the tried and tested lower carbs and more protein. I've started having a protein shake on my 1-1.5hr commute to work every morning and my muscles and body feel much stronger.

Edited

I second this. It's very rare for MJ to work as effectively as it did at the start.

You haven't said much about what you're eating but....
A few things to kick start the weightloss - FAST!!! Genuinely don't eat for a while or even go OMAD for a day or two and see what happens. Up the exercise (not the same day as OMAD).
Track everything too - sometimes it's difficult to realise that bad habits have crept back in.

But please don't go back to 2.5mg if you want MJ to be effective.
