So, as per the title, I started Mounjaro last night. When will I start to feel different? I know this sounds ridiculous, but I cannot find anything on line. When I did the injection, there was a little bit of fluid at the top of the needle (as they said) but I could not see any bubbles when I flicked the tube. I then injected it, but I have no idea whether there was anything that was actually injected. So I don't really know whether I have started it or not, and if I have, how long before something happens! As I said - I know it sounds ridiculous.

You can tell if you have injected because the plunger inside the pen moves along from the start position. Have a look at the image (when it appears) and you can see the difference between a full pen and one where you’ve done one dose.

It takes between 8 and 72 hours for the medication to peak in your system, and for many people the intitial 2.5mg dose may not have much effect. It can take a couple of weeks for the medication to build up, or some people need to higher doses to get the full effect. So it’s a long term process, potentially.

That is brilliant - thank you! I had not noticed the plunger! I shall sit quietly and wait, in that case. I have had lunch and I am starving already (and it was a fairly reasonable sized lunch 😭) I just want to not feel hungry, not want to pick at food every evening

If I don't notice much after the first two weeks of 2.5, can I just move up to 5?

You’d need to do 4 weeks at 2.5mg, but don’t forget that each week the medication builds in your system to reach higher levels, as it hasn’t all gone by the time you do the next injection. There are apps that you can use like Shotsy or DoseDiary to estimate the levels of medication in your system.
