Hen do while on mounjaro

Hello,

I’ve been on mounjaro for 4 weeks but I have an abroad hen do tomorrow and not sure if I should wait until I’m home to do my injection.

I am due to inject today so that would be a break of 4 days.

since I’ve been on the injections I’ve really struggled with alcohol and worried I’ll feel awful the entire time I’m away. I actually don’t mind not drinking much, but I just don’t want to ruin my weight loss.

any advice from anyone who has took a break? Has it impacted your results?

thanks in advance

If it makes you feel bad I would have a break. It’s only a few days and you’ve spent all that money and are probably looking forward to having fun with your friends. The last thing you want to do is feel ill. You can still be mindful of what you eat and drink.

I’ve just been away with friends and had a stinking cold/headache etc. It really put a dampener on things and if I could have prevented it I would have definitely enjoyed my holiday more!

Can I ask please about you’re ’really struggled with alcohol’ please?
Im an alcoholic, and considering the injections to help me with stopping drinking

If you don’t mind not drinking much and don’t want to ruin your progress just jab today and moderate I would. You’ll enjoy it all more with no hangovers too. Ime it’s so easy to be under the radar with not particularly drinking. If it’s bubbly, just accept the first glass and then tiny sips and it never gets topped up. Then mixers after when you’re out. Have a marvellous time ☀️

What does your mentor say? I'd not stop tbh as you've just started the programme and your body is adjusting.
What do you mean struggling with alcohol? are you craving it? If so, I'd definitely not push back your jab. Try a banana or ginger, lemon and honey tea if you're feeling nauseous.
Tip is always have your glass half full so refuse top ups.

If you've been on it for four weeks, does that mean you go up a dose for the next jab or are you sticking at 2.5 for your second pen?

If you're going up a dose I would say wait until you're back and take the break. Or you could count clicks and stay at 2.5 for the first dose of the new pen. Not so much about the alcohol but the jump up to 5mg can be a bit of a SE trigger.

Yes, nursing a glass and not really sipping properly are all quite easy to do I've found.

@alcoholnightmare for me it has really killed off my desire to drink, from being a regular, but not problem, drinker. I had a few when I was still on 2.5, particularly when it was DH's birthday, but since moving up to 5mg almost nothing. I ordered a glass of fizz at a meal last week and I nursed my way through less than half of it and didn't enjoy it much. This isn't true for everyone though, although they are now doing studies MJ's power to dim addiction I think.

Thank you @GiveMeWordGames- very helpful x

Thanks everyone for your comments. Apologies I never thought about my wording when I wrote that I struggled with alcohol, it’s more I used to easily enjoy a bottle of wine but now I can’t stomach much at all, it always feels so heavy and I drank 5 rum and cokes and was vomiting so it’s totally put me off.

im just planning to stay on 2.5 as its working really well, dont want to push it as side effects haven’t been bad at all.

Edited

I think it depends on the person. It makes me want to drink more! I feel fewer effects, and it’s stopped my hangovers so it’s like drinking without any consequences! I have to be careful due to all the extra calories.

I’d jab as normal. I see this as a life time medication in the same way as my asthma and blood pressure medications.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 16/05/2025 13:08

I would see this as a great opportunity to stay on your diet. Do the jab and just watch your alcohol intake. No reason not to tell people you are intolerant to alcohol now [getting old] and will be very sick.
If you don't take the jab, there's no guarantee you will be able to booze as before in any case
