Moved up from 2.5 to 3.75 and not sure if I'm ill or side effects?

I was fine with 2.5. Only had heartburn. Took 3.75 on Tuesday and felt very normal. But yesterday the sulphur burps started and I have spent most of last night on the loo. I'm full of gas too. Could this be side effects because of the burps? Or and I sick?

You're not sick, definitely side effects. Ive had this, it will settle down .

Fatmumslim01 · 15/05/2025 09:43

I had this, did 5 weeks on 2.5 all fine then moved up to 3.75 and the nausea was awful in week 1. Week 2 was fine so I moved up to 5mg and nausea came back and Sulphur burps started but 5mg boosted my weight loss so worth it!

BunnyEaster · 15/05/2025 09:46

Thank you. I had stopped loosing weight on 2.5mg. I think I'm going to move up to 4mg then before I attempt 5mg.

Not sure if I should take imoduim or ride this out? I can't risk eating anything today as I'm shattered from being up all night now

It's quite often food related like greasy, fried food, heavy carbs, hard to digest red meat like steak, alcohol. The stomach emptying slows down so its sits and ferments in it. Try drinking more water and focus on protein. Have you had any rich food or takeaways etc?

Deflatine was so helpful to sort the trapped wind.

Pepto Bismal is amazing for sorting out sulphur burps and indigestion.
It smells like germolene which is revolting, but I hold my nose when taking it, it actually tastes ok, it is brilliant stuff.

NoTouch · 17/05/2025 14:58

For sulphur burps and gas, alone with diet tweaks, your best bets are pepto bismal and deflatine.

The burps are caused by food hanging about the stomach too long, Pepto bismal will kill certain bacteria and binds to sulphur reducing the eggy smell. But read the instructions as you shouldn't use it for more than a couple of days at a time.

Avoid things like rennies which cause more gas.
Gavison advance (not double action) is best for acid reflux

I had this exact thing and it lasted from Tuesday night till Friday night - was awful. Spent three days at home pretty much. Went back down from 3.75 to 2.5 and been fine all week but I’m hungry a lot more so do need to try and go back up again Sunday. Very nervous about it coming back as it was brutal 🥸 hope you feel better soon!
