Mounjaro & SSRIs/pregablin

I've put on quite a bit of weight since starting SSRIs and Pregablin for anxiety and panic disorder. I'm also perimenopause and have recently started HRT. BMI 32 and rising.

I've tried dieting (CC and slimming world) and exercise. The weight keeps creeping up despite me having success with these things in the past. My appetite is so hard to manage and the weight just doesn't seem to shift.

So, I've been seriously considering mounjaro. But... I've finally found some stability with my mental health which was pretty debilitating a few months ago. I really don't want to rock the boat by adding another medication to the mix - the last thing I want to do is make myself unwell again with my MH. My family are also a bit concerned and trying to convince me weight loss injections would be a bad idea.

I've tried to research for any contraindications and can't seem to find any. I would like to discuss with my psych but I'm waiting for an appt.

Does anyone have any personal experience of MH issues and weight loss injections? Any experience of taking them with SSRIs and Pregablin?

I'd be curious to know.

Thanks

Not exactly what you've asked, but I checked with my GP as I take a high dose of gabapentin for nerve damage, I don't meet the new criteria coming in next month for the 1st year of prescribing MJ, but he was happy for me to get it privately.

I take pregabalin and citalopram and MJ has worked really well for me. No side effects, just weight loss.

Hi - I’m wondering the exact thing OP- I take Fluoxetine, Mirtazapine and Pregabalin. I’m three stone overweight at least and it’s due to the hunger the meds give me. I want to try Mounjaro but I’m also cautious as I too don’t want to relapse!

I can’t speak as to pregabalin but I take mirtazapine and propanolol and have had zero issues with Mounjaro! It’s counteracted the increased appetite I had when I first went on it, too.

I'm on fluoxetine, gabapentin and olanzapine and it has been ok, in fact I think a bit better.

Interesting, and reassuring! Thanku.

Are you going to go for it? I’m still in two minds. Have been frantically googling the effect on the absorption of antidepressants. Like you I am very stable and never want to go there again!
