Slow loss on 2.5mg

Just looking for experiences and thoughts

I’ve been on 2.5mg for approx 9 weeks. Starting weight was 13.8 stone and now 12.10 stone - so 12 pounds lost. Staying on 2.5 as very minimal side effects now (felt a bit sick on and off at start and good suppression so not keen to go up if I don’t need to).

anyway so on average I’m losing 1.5 pounds a week. Is this expected/ good rate of loss? It’s hard not to compare so I feel like it’s coming off but slowly.

did anyone have similar and kept going? Anything to boost it!? Or just trust the process?

id love to hear people’s experiences with similar weight and goals. Goal to lose is 2.5-3 stone total!

thanks in advance

Can I ask why you’ve chosen not to go up to 5mg? If 2.5mg is working for you and you’re okay with slightly slower progress then it’s fine, but you’re aware that 2.5mg is considered the ‘starting dose’ just to get your body used to it and it’s only 5mg and up that is considered therapeutic?

The expected rate of loss is between 1 and 2 pounds per week, so you are losing weight well. Not particularly slowly.

I'm losing weight at the same rate on 2.5 and sticking with it until/unless my weight loss grinds to a halt. Less risk of loose skin, fewer side effects and more ability to increase if I need to down the line.

The weight I have is the result of a whole lifetime of overeating, I am OK with it taking a fair few months to lose it.

Fair question I should have explained sorry. So I’m pretty sensitive to medication generally and side effects. I also have a fear of vomiting so I’ve been nervous to even start mounjaro but I’m pleased with the process and minimal side effects of 2.5mg

I’ve read a lot of success stories from staying on 2.5 so I just was keen to stay low if I can when I know I tolerate it well.

That makes sense! It sounds like it’s working well for you, 1-2lbs a week is great.

I am also staying on 2.5mg for as long as I can. It's working well for me, though I'm only six weeks in. I'm down 6kg, but much of that was in the first week. I'm very happy with slow and steady, and I'm not getting any side effects at this dose.

Fatmumslim01 · 11/05/2025 21:07

I'm a similar weight loss to you, 12 pounds in 7 weeks I think it is but 6 pound of that was in the first 2 weeks so mainly I've been losing a pound a week. I did 5 weeks on 2.5 but I felt the hunger was bothering me so I went up to 3.75 which felt the same as 2.5 but I stayed on that for 2 weeks and it's just now on my 8th Jab that I've gone up to 5mg

notanormalday · 11/05/2025 21:35

I’ve been the same. I’ve moved up doses every 5 week and on 10mg now but decided to stay on this for aslong as I can. Starting weight was 16st 7lb I’m not sure 14st 2lb. First weekend in December. I feel like it’s been very slow compared to other people who have lost stones within 2 months. But I see it as long as I’m not gaining and losing I’m winning. It can be disheartening and annoying but I do feel better and count myself lucky.

1.5 a week is great, especially at a low dose. If it tails off you may want to consider increasing but if it's working then why not stay where you are.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 12/05/2025 06:51

1.5 lbs a week is the perfect rate to lose.

If you are still having the desired effects from 2.5 - satiety, lack of food noise (deal breaker for me!), regular loss - stay on it!
