I’m not surprised tbh. But sorry for those who will lose their jobs.

This . They might be the first but they won't be the last. There's no market now for that sort of weight loss regime. Things have moved on.

I'm not a fan of WW, but the "bankruptcy" is a Chapter 11 reorganisation bankruptcy in the US which will enable them to wipe out large debts and continue trading.

Mounraine · 07/05/2025 21:33

I think it’s going to be interesting how wli alter the industry. Not familiar with WWs - did they adjust to accommodate wli-users?

Guess all that private weight loss surgery also much less demand. It’s fab people have another option.

Smellslikeburnttoat · 07/05/2025 22:29

Guess the misogyny finally caught up with them

ThisAlertRaven · 07/05/2025 22:30

I got an email today saying they are still going to be running

IHateMozzies · 08/05/2025 00:12

I saw a post from a Slimming World leader actively inviting those on WLI’s along to their meeting in order to get on a better diet.

RhaenysRocks · 08/05/2025 05:28

Just saw a FB post about this..mostly American comments but such infuriating ignorance about how WLI work..all this "you just have to change habits" "fatties shooting up then heading to Macdonald's" 🙄. One said the NHS is now doling them out like sweets as a cheap option. Ridiculous.

SW will have to change their diet guidance pronto if this is their plan. Their current emphasis on volume eating is genuinely impossible on WLI.

Fantina · 08/05/2025 08:20

I’m confused by this. Why do they have so much debt when they were the market leaders in the US for decades?

They spent a lot on their rebranding to 'WW'.

tryingtobesogood · 08/05/2025 08:28

WW changed from in person to almost all online after the pandemic, got rid of most of their employees this way. They do offer a bit of WLI support but not enough. They should have offered the jabs as part of their programme. This is what second nature has done, alongside a comprehensive CBT programme that is really good.

Fantina · 08/05/2025 08:49

I do think there’s a market to have group support/individual therapy whilst on weight loss medication, but not of the SW and WW variety. I know many of my issues are linked to trauma but an unqualified leader leading a group in a village hall won’t be able to unpick that with me.

MrsMiagi · 08/05/2025 15:23

I follow the WW plan for people on WLI. Tracks macros/calories rather than focusing on points. Eat mainly from the list of zero point foods. Has really helped me. Have been losing average of 2 pounds a week.

grafittiartist · 08/05/2025 18:51

Weight watchers always worked really well for me- the old version.
good old fashioned calorie counting and checking in once a week.
my Fitness Pal took over for me I suppose.
Sad for the leaders.
