Restarting mounjaro

Coco321 · 07/05/2025 20:18

Hiya gang
So I started on mounjaro last August. I must have been the slowest and worst performer as only lost 1.5 stone in 6 months 😪 i mainly stayed on 2.5 but did go to 5 for a few weeks. I did suffer with vomiting on a few occasions so decided to come off it a few weeks ago.
However I'm in a downward spiral eating wise.. it's all I think of so I've decided to restart back at the beginning on 2.5. I need to have better results this time. Please hit me with your biggest tips as I need todo things differently this time. Also i have a weeks holiday abroad in 10 days..would you still start straight away? Thanks so much x

Why did you stay on 2.5mg if you weren’t losing? I found that when I moved up to 7.5mg that’s where I lost most of my weight and I’ll stay there until it stops having the impact.

sundayfundayz can i ask please if your side effects were bad at 7.5 ?

No, they were worse on 5mg!

BethDuttonYeHaw · 08/05/2025 06:46

You didn’t lose much because you stayed on 2.5. It’s not a therapeutic dose for most people.

like the previous poster I didn’t lose much till to 7.5. I’m now on 15. I’m 8 months in and approaching 5 stone loss.

my side affects have been manageable. I need to avoid fatty foods and carbs.

UpsideDownside · 08/05/2025 09:27

I also had side effects at certain points on 2.5mg and 5mg.

I need to be really careful not to eat too much or too fatty foods on the day of injection and the next two days. If I eat too much or too much fat on those days then I get 12 hours of D&V.

In your shoes I would try again, being really careful with quantity and quality on the days around the injection. Do four weeks at each dose and move up until you’re losing 1-2lbs per week.

Nutmuncher · 08/05/2025 10:51

Start again but make sure you move up, a lot of people I know at work are hovering around 5, 7.5 and 10 without really needing to go much higher, they didn’t have high amounts to lose though so it depends how much you need to lose.

My advice would be to use WLI as a catalyst to start a high protein low carb eating regimen, cut out alcohol, have black coffee/tea, avoid sugar, plenty of vegetables. Drink lots of water and exercise in whatever way you prefer.

But 1.5 stone in 6 months is 3.5 pounds a month - nearly a pound a week. I wouldn't call that nothing? That sounds healthy and normal.

Was the vomiting at 5 or 2.5? If it was just the higher dose then I'd try the 2.5 again.

Thanks everyone for replies. I am going to start again tomorrow but move up doses every 4 weeks. Looking back i should have moved up quicker. Thanks everyone for replies. Appreciate it.

See I’m in the same boat. I am losing on the 2.5 but since January I’ve lost 2 stone so not loads but still losing, but 5mg made me physically sick, so weak and my husband got so worried he said my face drew in and I looked like a corpse so he begged me to come off it. I did then but have went back to 2.5 without him knowing, but I know I’ll need to go back to 5mg soon, but I’m scared in case I’m sick again

CoraPirbright · 08/05/2025 22:24

Try combining it with something like intermittent fasting (I do 16:8) and low carb. I lost 3 stone in 6 months doing that and only used 2.5 then 5. Good luck!

Why not take it very slow, so 2.5, then 3, 3.5 etc. There’s no rush, give your body time to adjust. Talk to your provider about it too.

So the medication made you sick, and you think the solution is to take more of it more quickly 🫤

I don't get the logic

Glohc · 10/05/2025 10:04

My advice would be to eat as much protein as you can. Even if you have the protein shakes it’ll help.
