But it’s not just me imagining it. People are 100% nicer to you when you present as slim rather than big

I suspect for every person who isn’t nice to overweight people there’s an overweight person who isn’t nice to slim people. We may have been nice overweight people though I’m pretty sure I had my days when I wasn’t and if a slim person had been in the receiving end of me that day they’d have gone away thinking ‘she was off with me because I’m slim’.

Im much nicer slimmer and I can’t be alone in that.

We are off to Yorkshire! Staying in the uk this year, four holidays but all in the uk. We will have a big cottage and lots of shared meals.

im hoping i can get in lots of steps and drag various family members for walks to get my calories burnt.

think ill make a big shakshuka for breakfast one day as it’s such an easy healthy protein breakfast.

Enjoy Yorkshire. I live in Yourkshire...it's beautiful. Hope you get some nice weather ☺️

Azuresky68 · 16/05/2025 08:31

@Blondeshavemorefun so glad you are happy and well done for the 5.5 loss and getting into a size 10..have you decided to keep it?

I overate last night at my daughter's- veg chilli and rice but then about 5 small Belgian chocolate biscuits plus a white chocolate Oreo Angry I can't be in the same room as biscuits, chocolates and cake. This morning my tummy is so bloated. Then it's a sit down meal on Saturday...seafood risotto and an ice cream sundae....I am not having a starter though.

Ooops meant Yorkshire not Yourkshire!

Good morning, it's WW no J and I'm back at goal, 11st. I've still eaten well just no bread, nann, pizza as in the base. Although my weight went up 5lbs in a week I know its not "real" and I'm happy and not worried about fluctuating now. This morning, even at 11st my tummy is swollen and I've not eaten bread items.

I do feel that I was treated differently when I was heavier, especially in the workplace. It was a male dominated company and I always clocked the initial assessment when you entered a meeting room. It definitely wasn't my imagination.
Maybe it's the vibe we give off, always apologising for our shortcomings.
X

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/05/2025 08:55

Yes I kept it in the end but I did send back another one that was a bit clingy imo and re ordered 12/14. They’ve refunded me already so handy to know easy and free to Return stuff to Temu @Azuresky68 if you decide you don’t like the strapless dress and food sounds yummy

yah. Well done @NippyNinjaCrab

again sorry you got treated diff when bigger. I can honestly say I wasn’t

Edited

I really haven't found overweight people being unpleasant to slim people, and I've been a healthy weight for long periods in between periods of being overweight and very overweight. Obviously there can be crappy mean people at any weight, but that day to day dismissal and low level contempt from people - even leaving aside outright hostility - comes when you're overweight, not normal weight. I don't think a lot of it is conscious even, you're just instantly seen as rather unattractive, unworthy and low status. Not everyone does it, of course, but it's widespread.

I think there is a version of overweight people being a bit hostile when you're losing weight and they feel a bit threatened by it - all the don't lose any more, you're too thin, you look gaunt nonsense. But that's quite specific.

Am I nicer when I'm thinner? I don't think so, I think I'm pretty much the same, but most of the time I'm definitely happier, and I think that puts out a more confident, appealing vibe. I'm quite insular in some respects, and I think that's made worse by my inner cringing when I'm overweight! But it's also easier to be nice when people are nice to you.

weaselyeyes · 16/05/2025 11:33

Congrats on the 2lb off @Blondeshavemorefun!

1lb off for me this week, bringing me to the exciting milestone of 8'13". 6lb to go, but to be honest I see life looking pretty much the same whenever I eventually get there; I don't think I'll suddenly switch into a different mode, so I'll still be plugging away to try to stay there.

poppym12 · 16/05/2025 11:59

I'm not weighing but I did measure yesterday (first time in about a month) and I'm still chipping away at the inches.

Can I ask for some honest opinions please? Should I size up in these trousers? Or forget them altogether?

Slimhopes · 16/05/2025 12:20

Those look really good @poppym12 I wouldn’t change the size.
well done to all the losses and the perseverance everyone! And @Blondeshavemorefun were at exactly same bmi spot, I need one more pound to get under 25. Feel excited!! Feeling anxious about life after MJ, started reading the maintenance threads to find people who titrate down and stop MJ to see how that works as that’s my plan.
hope you all get a bit of sunshine today 🌞

poppym12 · 16/05/2025 12:55

Thanks @Slimhopes. I'm so used to wearing everything oversized that they feel a bit snug. Even when I was a size 10/12 I wore things a bit too big for me. I'll try them on again before I decide whether to keep them.

Slimhopes · 16/05/2025 13:37

I’m getting used to wearing clothes differently now too and learning what goes well or is more flattering (instead of large tunic tops etc). After decades of wearing oversized it’s quite strange but started having tops which sit at the waistband has been more flattering than the ones covering my bottom . However I’m only 5ft so always looking to make myself look stretched ! You might find a boxy t shirt would sit nicely with your jeans @poppym12.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/05/2025 14:06

Thank you and Well done @weaselyeyes/ and well done for going down a stone bracket as well. An 8 at the beginning. Wow

@poppym12 yah for measuring going the right way and trousers look great

@Slimhopes hello twin. It seems incredible that we are so close - knowing my luck I will sts next week 🙀😂 but be wow if I /we don’t

how much more do you want to lose - I want 5lbs extra so have a leeway

be great to get to bmi of 22/23 but I know I can’t keep it there

10.1 would be a 22 bmi
10.7 would be a 23 bmi

I go to 10.10 on ww 20+ yrs ago and couldn’t keep it there so looks like I will be 23/24 which is 10.13-11.00

maitenence is scary as I keep saying I don’t know which one I want /need via Ousch. I know @Azuresky68 says you can swap but I don’t know

OP posts:
NippyNinjaCrab · 16/05/2025 14:31

No I'm still taking MJ, I've got a new 2.5mg pen in the fridge. I had my last jab on Monday, the full bonus dose of a 2.5 pen and another 10 clicks which is 0.4mg. I've not felt good with as much in my system because I have been taking low doses. Once I come back from holiday I will go it alone and see how I get on. Xx

weaselyeyes · 16/05/2025 14:34

Definitely keep that size @poppym12, as I think a bigger one would look too bunched at the waist.

I think I'm unlikely ever to wear waist length tops - not with trousers, anyway. The droopy belly area is a bit podgy-looking, even though everything is smaller overall, but I have graduated to bum length tops as opposed to mid-thigh, so I'll take that as progress!

I wouldn't decide your final weight based on what you could or couldn't maintain 20 years ago @Blondeshavemorefun, and I doubt it will be the case that 10.10 is hard to maintain and 10.13 is somehow much easier. Being 20 years older might make either weight harder to maintain, but on the other hand you've worked really hard at losing weight this time and might have better strategies in place which make a lower weight easier. I've definitely suffered in the past from thinking I could spring back to 'normal' eating after a diet, and I think we're all a bit wiser. I'd just see how you feel as you go along.

NippyNinjaCrab · 16/05/2025 14:36

If I go below 11 after the holiday it won't bother me, ideally 10-7 and no lower because I seriously don't think I can stay below that and i like the way I am just now tbh. Half a stone is a lot and makes a difference in clothes sizes. In hindsight I wish I had gotten some of the holiday clothes in a 12. Everything looks okay on and not stupid but possibly some items would have been better smaller. Too late now lol. I think I'm still in denial and worried if I buy smaller clothes I might not stick to this size, like the size 12 jeans for an example. Arghhhh. I'm always all over the place tbh aren't I? Sometimes.even from post to post haha xx

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/05/2025 14:37

Fingers crossed @NippyNinjaCrab. Sure you can As such a low dose. That’s why I get scared as on top whack and what if I can’t keep the weight off

@weaselyeyes it’s all progress and less material

OP posts:
NippyNinjaCrab · 16/05/2025 14:39

@poppym12 those are really nice, keep them, if anything you will need a smaller size. I'm envious of your tan.

My hips are so painful lately especially the one that's needing replaced, it's aching right now, God knows what it would feel like with another 3.5 stone on it 🙃 xxx

weaselyeyes · 16/05/2025 14:44

I'm not glad you're in pain @NippyNinjaCrab, but I'm glad you've managed to do such an epic thing to stop it being worse!

I have three pairs of trousers I've acquired since losing weight - two 12s and a 10, all of which were a bit tight when I got them. They're now annoyingly loose, which I just couldn't imagine would happen because it didn't occur to me it was physically possible. I assumed they'd be my final trousers and I was safe in getting them. I'll have to put up with it though, as I can't really afford any more unless I spot some more good bargains.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/05/2025 14:44

It’s sunny here so did bootcamp and 2hrs in garden sunbathing /snoozing as worked last night

I’ve just had a rummage in the back of the wardrobe and just tried on a variety of dresses I had forgotten I had got /put away as didn’t fit

I’m going to be more positive as you’ve been telling me off lol - but it’s such a good feeling to get into stuff that I haven’t worn for 20yrs but that they still look in fashion /nice on me

I am a hoarder so doesn’t surprise me I still have them.

I did clear out lots of clothes maybe 2yrs ago which I knew I wouldn’t ever fit in them again

ahhhhhhh I bloody would now

but that’s what Temu is for

I’m going to order some more stuff for holiday and have a clear out of larger clothes

I sold an item on Vinted

BNWT swimming cossie which was size ‘whispers’ 22

I had obv bought it and tried it on and fitted - then didn’t wear it for whatever reason.

so it sold today for £10. Was £30 new so happy with that !!

Having a current good feeling is great! It just doesn't have to be at the expense of your past self :)

I've found a few things I can fit into again, which is great, although annoyingly with some things I missed the window and they're now too big. I'm not going to get rid of every single thing that's too big, as it feels like tempting fate, but I'm going to be very selective in what I hang on to. In the past, I've put weight on when my back injury flared up and I couldn't move properly for a long time. If that were to happen again I'd be cross, but wouldn't blame myself too much. Hopefully I'd be able to get rid of the weight again. However, if it does, I'm going to wear something i have already. I never want to have to buy anything XXL again.

NippyNinjaCrab · 16/05/2025 15:00

I love the word rummage, I fell yesterday so that's exacerbated the pain. I stupidly stood on the pups dragging long line as he was trotting by me on a narrow pathway to the beach ffs! Fell on the right gammy hip while the other leg was under me weirdly! I had to use wee pookie woo to get up and she's a wee thing haha, knob dog was not in reach to use as a hand up, he was standing at my head the big fanny.
Oh @weaselyeyes i hope your back never gets like that again, apart from not getting out and about it's miserable pain.xx
@Blondeshavemorefun I also wish I hadn't had a huge clear out before I started MJ, would have saved a fortune on clothes.
Tbh things are fitting different now I am older and my shape has changed. Xx
