Micro dosing

Is anyone micro dosing monjourno? If so, are you losing weight on it? Xx

You might need to define what you personally mean by micro dosing as many people have very different ideas of what constitutes micro dosing.

WalksRiverside · 27/04/2025 18:33

Yes - I have a 5mg pen but only taking equivalent to 4mg (48 clicks) per dose. If that’s what you mean by micro dosing. Why? Fine on 2.5 pen, good suppression and no food noise. Glad I did as even with 4mg feel very full much of the time, so have to work at eating enough calories of the ‘right’ food. I will then have wriggle room to increase more slowly if I want to after 4 weeks. And yes still losing at a sensible pace

Iamthemoom · 27/04/2025 19:33

I started off micro dosing, I did 30 clicks of 2.5 and built up v slowly. It worked great for a while but with each dose after 4-5 weeks it seems to lose effectiveness until I hit 12.5 which was too much and now I’ve found my perfect dose at 55 clicks of a 12.5 pen.

I think it will depend how your body reacts to low doses. My friend has lost the same weight as me and is taking around 4mg. She vomits on anything higher. Everyone reacts differently but I definitely think it’s best to be on the lowest dose where you lose weight.

Puglover2025 · 27/04/2025 20:15

Thank you all.
my version of micro dosing it taking a smaller amount as you’ve said. So I’ve read about people starting at 0.25 and building up to 1.25 etc… so I thought about doing that. But wasn’t sure how to work the clicks out. I really appreciate the replies - very helpful.

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 27/04/2025 20:21

Can I ask why you would want to start off doing that? 2.5mg isn't even meant to produce meaningful weight loss on average, so 0.25mg is unlikely to have any effect at all. I can understand moving down to less than 2.5mg if you have very high suppression and/or persistent difficult side effects, but choosing to start on an amount that is a 10th of the first dose level doesn't seem to make much sense to me.

0.25mg on a 2.5mg pen would be 6 clicks and 0.06ml of medication.

Puglover2025 · 27/04/2025 21:42

I’ve been reading and watching some Dr in America talk about the benefits of it and how weight loss can happen. But I definitely see your point,

Thank you for telling me the clicks- appreciate it

0.25??? Utterly pointless and weird behaviour! 2.5 isn't even a therapeutic dose, 0.25 is homeopathic levels. Try it if you want to waste a lot of money and see no results!

WeAllHaveWings · 27/04/2025 21:48

Expensive way to get started if using for weight loss. Were they suggesting it for the benefits for inflammation etc or weight loss. You would also need to consider with the UK Kwikpens and different preservatives from US pens how long you would use a pen for. Instructions say discard after 30 days.

shrinkingthiswinter · 27/04/2025 21:53

My understanding is that the advice is not to take a dose less than 10 clicks of any given pen because the dosing isn’t as accurate.

I'm taking 1mg and losing approx 2lb per week with zero side effects. OK'd by my endocrinologist.

Others are losing on even smaller doses.

Why so cross and dismissive of something you clearly know nothing about?

SilenceInside · 27/04/2025 21:59

@shrinkingthiswinter Yes, that was really why I described the number of clicks and the volume of medication - 0.06ml! A tiny volume of medication.

@TryingAgainAgainAgain 1mg is not 0.25mg, and you are being directed by an endocrinologist rather than deciding a dosing schedule on your own without any medical guidance or reasoning.

backtickles · 27/04/2025 22:04

I started on 15 clicks of a 2.5 pen, then increased to 30, now doing 45 clicks. Have lost 10lbs.

I did try a full 2.5 dose last year but had awful side effects so gone low and slow this time. I am very sensitive to medications though.

Thank you for your insight @TryingAgainAgainAgain I have been reading a lot of similar stories to yours which is why it has made me curious.

I have been wondering this. I have tried 2.5mg but ended up with terrible diarrhoea so stopped taking it. I didnt feel I could tolerate so I wondered about building up slower

I am not being “directed” by an endocrinologist. I decided the microdosing schedule I wanted to
try, and made an appointment with an endocrinologist in part to ask if that was a safe approach. He said absolutely fine. In your view, @SilenceInside, I decided on my dose without guidance or reasoning, in fact it was after listening to doctors such as Kevin Joseph, and reading some of the original studies, Nature coverage etc, and then seeing an endocrinologist as a final check.

For anyone actually interested in a measured, intelligent approach to this, see:

I am very wary of doctors as influencers, and of deviating from official guidelines, but find Dr Joseph’s approach useful and sensible.

Such ignorance shown by some pp, whilst being so high and mighty.

OP, dosing chart attached that has been shared on here before. There is an element of risk in people working out their own dosing, although less so while using a 2.5mg pen.

SilenceInside · 27/04/2025 23:18

I'm not being "high and mighty", I think I've been measured and polite, and I think calling me ignorant is unnecessary.

"Directed" was clearly not the right word, but I did not and could not have known the process by which you consulted an endocrinologist, as you didn't say. A reasonable assumption to think that your treatment was being guided by a specialist, rather than simply signed off.

Regardless, your approach was approved by the endocrinologist as "fine", therefore you had some medical guidance and reasoning.

Finallydoingit24 · 28/04/2025 11:46

Yes. I started on 30 clicks of a 2.5 mg pen. Various reasons but I have watched quite a lot of videos and listened to podcasts from doctors who know what they are talking about and regularly do this with their patients. I trust what they say. I lost a large amount of weight really quickly, much quicker than I have ever done naturally so I’m pretty sure it had an effect.

I very gradually moved up (5 clicks at a time) and I now take 35 clicks of a 5mg pen so around 3mg. I have lost around 2 stone in 14 weeks so about 2lb a week loss and I didn’t want it to be any faster than that. It has slowed down recently - the very fastest loss happened when I was on the microdose.

The microdose was enough to stop me binge eating which is what I wanted the medication for. I have just over one more stone to lose until I am at my goal weight but I look quite slim at my current weight as I am 5’7”. My starting BMI was 30.1 and my current is 26.2.

chirpes · 01/05/2025 21:45

For those that do less than 60 clicks for a dose - do you use the pen past the 30 day use by time? If it’s kept in the fridge would it last longer?

I do go over a bit. I read everything I could find about the safety of this, I think this thread covers the risks reasonably:

Because nothing says ‘trusted medical advice’ like a guy named 'ArgyllAtheist' on Reddit breaking down molecular degradation like they work weekends in the Eli Lilly fridge department 🤣

Nevertrustacop · 03/05/2025 14:05

It's perfectly fine to use it longer than date. Nothing bad happens after 30 days.

As is obvious, going beyond 30 days is against Eli Lily's patient instructions, so obviously any discussion about doing so will not be from the manufacturer's themselves. I posted that as, imo, a reasonable summary of the potential risks. Feel free to provide better information and a better source.

That is not necessarily true. There is potentially an increased risk of pathogen growth within the pen, however small that risk might be.
