Can I go up to 10mg at this weight?

I’ve been on MJ for a year and I’ve gone from 15 stone to 9 stone 10. I’ve maintained this weight for 5 months now and I am on 7.5. I’ve never gone higher than this.

however I’d like to be 9 stone. I’m short so even though my BMI is normal at 23, I’d like to give myself some wriggle room and actually achieve the weight I set out to get to

I feel like I’ve topped out at 7.5 and in order to kick start things again I probably need to go up again

but has anyone else done this? Gone up when they’re at a normal weight?

thoughts appreciated

Have you read the Gary Taubes article shared on the WLI forum yesterday? I think it explains what is happening really clearly. At BMI 23 you probably have very little fat left to access!

@Goinghome25no I’ve not seen that so I’ll have a search and read of it. Sounds interesting

I do sometimes wonder if that’s me done. As in, has my body done what it wants to and just because I can lose more doesn’t mean I should

I’m on 10mg and my bmi is 20.4 I can’t seem to lose any more weight ( I would like to lose another 5lb really) and am just maintaining. You probably could get a little lower on a higher dose. I carried on losing up to 12.5 mg. I did actually go up to 15mg but after about 3 weeks I had bad side effects and weight stayed about the same. I then went down to 12.5 and and then 10 mg where I am now.

Sounds like you’ve done brilliantly @Pyjamatimenow- do you plan to maintain on 10 or work down lower?

I haven’t had side effects really - the odd bit of nausea and occasional tiredness or upset stomach but I’ve no idea if going up to 10 would be worthwhile doing for the last few pounds to give me that buffer that I’d like

Well just this week after being on 10mg for 6 weeks all fine I had side effects like I did on the 15mg and it was pretty rough so now I’m thinking I might have to go down again or space out. Difficult to know what to do.
I started in May last year and had zero issues with side effects until just before Xmas. I don’t know if it’s that my weight is too low for the doses or if it’s just built up in my system. I see plenty of people on the fb groups at pretty low weights and maintaining on 10mg and even higher with no problems though

My BMI is 20.5 and I went up to 10mg last week. I'm still alive! MJ is still working! I still feel good!

BatChops1 · 26/04/2025 23:39

@HotSauceAndPiegood to know! Why did you go up? Wanting to lose more or not feeling the 7.5 anymore?

I had been on 7.5mg for a while and it started to ware off. I was really hungry and had a binge day and that made me decide to move up.. I didn't want to, but like you i still want to loose another few pounds so thought I'd try 10mg. I would have stopped ages ago but i still have lots of fat round my middle that I am.keen to shift.
