5th dose by twisting

Unfortunately, the delivery of my next pen was messed up and my new pen is not likely to arrive until Tuesday which is 5 days after my next dose was due. I had my previous 12.5mg pen and through id try to take the 5th dose. I’ve never actually done it despite being on Mounjaro for 13 months.

I didn’t by twisting my pen hard and then injecting with the usual needles, however I noticed there is still more liquid left afterwards. Obviously I have no idea how much I injected but does it sound right that there is still some left even with “full” dose being given by twisting?

my next pen is due to arrive Tuesday. I’m due to move up to 15mg. Would you wait until Friday to take this or take it early?

If you turned the pen to the 1 position, and it injected down to the 0 position with the plunger moving properly then you will have given yourself a normal dose for your pen. So, 12.5mg.

I would wait until your normal injection day to do the next dose.

I did this last night and had some left still in the pen. I didn’t inject it as I got a full dose

How do you know you got a full dose? This is what I’m struggling with is knowing how much I got. If it was a full one then I can wait the full week for my next dose but if it wasn’t I wonder if I should take it a day or two early.

@SpacePatch did you twist the pen out to the 1 position? If so, then you will have had a full dose.

I have never managed to over twist the pen ever, I’ve always got the last dose by extracting with an extra needle. I’ve always got about 0.7-0.8 out of the chamber, so if you have a significant amount left you may not have got the full dose. Can you post a picture of what’s left?

The hard twist method is not as reliable as it once was, Eli Lilly have possibly changed pen design, and if anyone is attempting they need to be very aware of where the plunger is before and after injecting to have any idea if the correct dose has dispensed. I would say, especially on higher doses when accuracy of a fraction of a ml is more important, that using a sold as human grade syringe with an appropriate needle size where you can measure increments of 1/100th of a ml is more reliable and safer. It is worth having some on standby for scenarios like this, especially for higher doses which seem to have occasional supply issues, and as they are more expensive to save a bit of money so you always have a little buffer.

That’s barely anything left, looks like you got a full dose to me!
