Feels frustratingly slow compared to some.

Am upping to 5mg. Was umming and ahhing.

I feel I get 4 days of suppression and 3 not so much.

Just worried about side effects.

6lbs in 3 weeks is great? What did you think you would lose? You have to be realistic here. Frustratingly slow??
Move up to the 5mg if you feel you need to, I had side effects with each move up, but only ever went up to 7.5mg. They lasted a few days then settled.
You still need to do some work with the injections. It makes it easier to make the right decisions I find, regarding food, but thats down to me. For those 3 days you maybe need to work on your mental game?
You really need to be realistic though, 2lbs a week is an excellent loss.

Two pounds a week is the higher end of a healthy amount to lose - the suggestion is to aim for no more than 1-2 pounds a week to keep the loss at a healthy rate.
Since November I'm averaging a little under 2 pounds a week lost and am thrilled with that progress. What were you expecting to lose?

CanIGoHomeNowPlease · 25/04/2025 10:27

This is what you should be aiming for - any more would be too fast.

1/2 stone in a month is a lot of weight to lose. How much are you wanting to lose?

I can understand how you’re feeling, happy that 6lbs is gone but slightly disappointed as a lot of people have a whoosh on week 1 of 4lbs plus then a steady 1-2lbs a week. No whoosh for me on week one and I was so flat, still very early days for me W2D3 and 3lbs down in total. I am prescribed it for diabetes and have my 5mg ready in fridge so will go up after week 4. Keep going we will get there.

Yellowsubmarine55 · 25/04/2025 11:29

Re your suppression, I think you need to review your expectations as towards the end of the week it'll be after the half life of five days so you will be feeling less.

But as others have said 6lb is fantastic so don't compare yourself with others as everyone is different.

Bellyblueboy · 25/04/2025 11:35

I had a whosh week during the first week - 4lbs. Since then I have been on average 2lbs a week - this has slowed as I moved closer to goal. That’s seven months. I suspect week one was just inflammation and water!

i have crepey skin now and am glad I didn’t lose weight faster .

below is my progress to goal. Last two months on 7.5mg - moving back down to 5mg tomorrow for maintenance.

Look up a photo of an lb of fat, you have lost 6 of those in 3 weeks!

ItsLikeClimbingAMounjaro · 25/04/2025 16:52

Thanks all. I guess I was expecting more as people I know in real life have lost 2.5-3+ stone in 3 months staying on 2.5.

It feels like I'm just a bit rubbish at this losing weight lark- I couldn't lose weight on my own and now, even with this magic dart, I'm still not doing it very well.

I have 3st 1lb to go.

3 stone in 3 months is downright dangerous. I hope their gallbladder is OK. Extremely quick weighloss can cause no end of trouble with that.

PinkArt · 25/04/2025 17:00

You aren't rubbish at it. You're perfectly on target for healthy, steady weight loss.
Ignore other people's journeys - you didn't gain in the same way they did and you won't lose the same way. The main thing is what happens with you and so far you're off to a really good start.

ambercabs · 25/04/2025 17:04

I lose 1-2lbs a week on 2.5mg and so far have lost over 4 stone. It’s slow but it’s working. I don’t have full suppression and I don’t want it, I’m happy to have an appetite, I’m happy to feel hungry sometimes but using the MJ enables me to eat a healthy diet in a calorie deficit.

InfoSecInTheCity · 25/04/2025 17:06

I average at 1.8lb a week, have been in Mounjaro since Sept and have lost 4 and a half stone. Gone from obese to healthy and have 13lb left till I reach the ‘ideal’ weight for my height according to the online calculators.

You just need to keep chugging along and being consistent.

with regard dosage, I went up from 2.5 at the end of the 4 week period, then stayed on 5 for 20 weeks, then moved up through 7.5 for 4 weeks and am now on 10mg. Will stay at this dose till I hit goal then move back down. I will probably be on 5mg forever as I’m prescribed it for Diabetes instead of insulin and metformin so it’s a long term medication.

shrinkingthiswinter · 25/04/2025 19:30

That’s the maximum safe loss. You are doing well on the weight loss and need to consider if you should work on the self-esteem issues instead!

TheGall · 25/04/2025 20:58

Possible gallbladder issues, muscle loss, hair loss, Ozempic face, general increased chance of side effects: if you’re happy to go in that direction …. for sure, lose faster. Losing nearly half a stone in 6 weeks is hardly nothing.

shrinkingthiswinter · 25/04/2025 21:19

PS I mean that nicely in case it didn’t come across. Look after yourself psychologically as well as physically by losing weight! No one should ever tell you you’re rubbish. It’s not kind but it’s also not helpful. That kind of thing doesn’t make people feel or do better. Try talking to yourself like a wise best friend would.

slightly drunk but this stuff’s important

ItsLikeClimbingAMounjaro · 25/04/2025 22:09

You're right. It's true. We say things to ourselves that we'd never say to anyone else.
