I’m 5’2 - when will I be a size 16?

I know there are many variables because body shape, but if anyone doesn’t mind sharing their weight at a size 16 I would love to get some idea of the range.

I have lost 4 stone 6 but have only dropped from a (bursting out of) 20 to a ‘mid’ size 18. It seems quite slow moving down the dress sizes

I’m same height and 74kg and a size 16. Sometimes a 14.

Octavia64 · 22/04/2025 17:32

86 kg. Sometimes 16 sometimes 18.

Kim82 · 22/04/2025 17:34

I’m 11st, 6lb and wear a size 16, sometimes a 14 dependent on where I buy from.

LadyCathdeBourgh · 22/04/2025 17:34

Same height. Size 16 at 11 and a half stone.

Comedycook · 22/04/2025 17:35

I'm 5'3"... I'm 13 stone 9lb and a size 16.

Darlinghag · 22/04/2025 17:56

5’3, 14st6 and size 18 but fitting some 16s on my top half now. I’d expect to be well into 13st before fitting 16 properly, with jeans etc

ElsaMars · 22/04/2025 18:06

I'm 5ft 2 and I was a 16-18 at my highest weight, around 14 stone. I'm now 10st 5 and still in mostly 14, though a lot of it is now too big, hurrah! I think it does feel slow for a long time to drop sizes but then it's like suddenly everything is baggy.

Bellyblueboy · 22/04/2025 18:07

I am the same night - for me a size 16 was around 12 stone. Size 14s got a bit tight over 11 and a half stone.

Dillydollydingdong · 22/04/2025 18:09

5ft 5", 13 st and size 14

dizzydizzydizzy · 22/04/2025 18:16

Amazing weight loss, OP! Congratulations!

I'm much taller than you - 5'9" and I have gone from a 20 to a 16/18 after a 3 stone weight loss.

Do your scales give you the breakdown of fat, lean mass etc? Mine do and I can see that I have lost only fat. Fat is less dense than muscle so a pound of fat will be large in volume than a pound of muscle. Losing mainly fat will get you to a smaller dress size more quickly. But I know it's not as simple as that. We all have different body types and I presume weight loss may not be distributed evenly across the body.

ambercabs · 23/04/2025 07:51

Thank you all - that’s some good variety as I thought!

@dizzydizzydizzymt scales are just basic weight scales, none of the added extras so I don’t know if I have lost muscle but I can’t see any reason why I would (perhaps I just don’t know enough about it) - I am reluctant to get new scales as I know they can be a pound or 2 different and they think that would throw me off! I got these just before staring the MJ and I was 5 pounds heavier than I was using my old scales. I was ok to take it at the beginning but I don’t want a variation mid way.

I'm 5ft 2, 12st 2lbs and I've just bought size 14 trousers from M&S (I think they come up large). I'm a classic pear shape with narrow shoulders so I'm between a 12-14 on top.

IHateMozzies · 23/04/2025 21:38

I’m 13 stone 6 and a 16. Can manage some size 14 tops.

AmythestBangle · 24/04/2025 14:16

I am 5 foot 3 and I was 16 trousers and 14 tops when I weighed between 70 and 75kg.

restbite · 24/04/2025 14:17

5ft 3

weight about 11st 11 ish

size 16 sometimes 18

traditional apple shape, slim legs and arms but massive belly

ambercabs · 28/07/2025 15:06

Returning to this, still not into a size 16 but another 2 stone lost!! I am so keen to fit those 16s, I’m finding most 18s a bit loose but the 16s are mainly too tight (jeans and skirts) although o do have some loose elasticated trousers in a 16, and some tops. It’s a huge sticking point for me, despite continuing to lose weight I have barely moved in the dress sizes.

Maybe next month!

Am 5 ft 3 and 12 stone 12, sort of hourglass but with a lower belly. Started off as an 18/20 3 stone ago. Today I tried an l in H&M which was a bit big (aline shift dress), just got some l’s in kettlewell which I think are 14s, my 16 tshirt top is too big. Bottoms wise I have some stretchy wide leg joggers from M&S in a 16 which are baggy now but I think they were generous to start with. My 16 trousers seem loose in the waist but not in the lower tummy/thigh. So not a 14 yet but from
prior experience I’d say maybe another stone ish. BMI would be around 29 by then I think.

myladyjane · 28/07/2025 17:26

@ambercabs on my monthly thread (yay January babes) very knowledgeable ladies say the smaller you get the quicker the sizes reduce. So loads of us have barely moved down from an 18 even after multiple stone losses but then 7lb will see them from a 12 to a ten.

museumum · 28/07/2025 17:30

I’m 13 stone and 5’2 and mostly a 16 though a bit smaller in the legs/hips (wear an 14 in leggings) and a bit larger in the chest (so just avoid formal shirts and structured jackets).

Lazygardener · 28/07/2025 18:58

Feeling a bit fed up (though pleased for everyone who has made it to size 16). I'm 5'3'' and 11 stone, and 16 is tight on me, and I can't get into a size 18 swimming costume. I know its because I have a big bust, relatively broad shoulders and carry weight around my middle, but I wonder if I will ever get to the promised land of size 14 (not aiming for anything smaller than that!).

Comedycook · 28/07/2025 19:00

Comedycook · 22/04/2025 17:35

I'm 5'3"... I'm 13 stone 9lb and a size 16.

Just to update I'm now 12 stone 13lb and still a size 16... although starting to slowly feel a little more roomy

AirborneElephant · 29/07/2025 10:49

Remember that a “bursting out of 20” could easily be several sizes higher. No judgement, I was determined to call myself a size 16 because I had one pair of 16 trousers I could get into, but really on the measurements I was a 20. Also body shape makes a huge difference, back long ago when I was slim I was at least one size bigger on the bottom than the top.

Really well done on the continued loss. If 18s are now too big you’ll be into the 16s in no time.

This makes a lot of sense and I vaguely now remember reading about it before! Planning to read through some of the other ‘month’ threads later

You are almost certainly right here Blush

Same height and I was a size 14 to 16 at 11stone.
Edit to add more info after seeing your update:
I was actually wearing a 10 to 12 but going by measurements, I was a size 16. So I agree when you say 'bursting out of a 20' was probably a few sizes bigger. I was bursting out of a 10, because I was actually a size 16 and didn't notice how much weight I had put on.
