Pen is broken - help!

Hoping someone can help. Just gone to take my fourth dose and my pen won't turn. Will only go 6 clicks so only a fraction of the dose. I go on holiday tomorrow so really need this dose today and don't want to rely/risk getting insulin needles tomorrow. Also really peed off that I'm having to do this when I'm paying £196 for the pen from boots so £50 a dose and it's not even working.

Anyway, can someone please tell me how to "break" the pen and get the full clicks please?

£196! Wow! Much cheaper suppliers elsewhere btw! Get to a pharmacy when you get to your destination. Will be super easy. If not you can force it but it’s very hard. I’ve only managed to do it once before.

Try changing the needle, I had this once and it was the needle stopping it turning.

Definitely change the needle and see if that helps.

Also, if you try to force the pen by doing a hard twist, often the whole internal plunger mechanism breaks, so you’d have to use syringes then anyway.

Are you certain that it's your 4th dose? You'd be surprised at how many people get it wrong and have already had 4 doses. It's the amount of medication still in the pen that misleads them.

This is what I was going to say. It’s certainly possible that you have a faulty pen but if it has worked perfectly for the previous doses then it’s highly likely that another explanation is user error due to miscounting doses. I’ve certainly done it myself.

Did anyone else read this as PENIS broken or just me?

Does it look like only 3 doses taken?

if yes, try another needle to see if it helps. Otherwise you can either return to boots (use the advantage you have of picking up that you can also take it back) or buy syringes online to extract

Yeah it's not my first pen so I know there's usually liquid leftover but it looks half full. Definitely looks like the pic above. I also only get 4 needles a time and this was the only 1 left so no confusing it. Not helpful if it's a dodgy needle though. I've spoken to boots online who have been semi helpful and have said to take it back to boots in the morning and they'll sort it. Just concerned as unless they have any pens in stock I'm not sure what they can do to help, also doubt they'll replace a pen on the last dose with a full one. I've ordered syringes to come tomorrow so that's my backup option (as long as they get here on time).

It is good that they told you to go to your boots pharmacy. Firstly, if they cannot get it working, they can either sell you needles to extract it or will have to give you a new pen! How else can they offer you the dose? Insist on a replacement pen and hopefully you'll get it.

Someone I know had this on 4th dose and Boots gave her a new pen
