Bonus dose / needle question

Hi MJ friends!
So I ordered insulin needles from Amazon. Didn't realise it was coming from China and would take ages. Just had notification that it's been 'lost'. So I have no needle for the bonus dose (have previously just broken the pen and injected with no issue, but with this last pen, I managed to twist but the plunger would not plunge - so I definitely need a needle to get the last dose out).
So I have two questions please:

• Can I go into a normal pharmacy and just buy the needles?? And if so what exactly do I ask for - insulin needles? I'm embarrassed about saying they're for MJ....
• This pen (7.5mg) was first used on 26th feb, over 7 weeks ago. I know this isn't recommended but it isn't cloudy. Is it actually dangerous for me, or is it just less effective?

I thought I could get the bonus dose out as I always have, which is why it's been so long since the pen was first used (hadn't checked the amazon wait time and now it seems the needle just isn;t even arriving). Really not sure what to do.
In the meantime I have another pen which I've used today. Any help much appreciated. Could do without losing the money from the precious bonus dose.

I wouldn’t use medication from a pen that has been open for 7 weeks. I’d just write it off and use the new pen, within the 30 day limit. Order medical grade syringes from a UK online pharmacy like UK Medi if you want to use the remaining liquid from your new pen in 4 weeks time.

You haven’t lost any money, you paid for 4 doses and for 4 doses.

I wouldn't use a pen that was 51 days from first use - I personally am ok with a 5th dose on day 35, but 51 days is way too far for comfort for me.

No one knows what the risks are taking it 21 days over (28 days by the time you take next week?) the discard date so no-one can conclusively answer your question either way, you need to make that decision for yourself.

Amazon cannot sell syringes as human grade so you have no idea what you are getting when you buy off them whether they come directly from China or from China via amazon. Best to buy from a UK medical supplier, the difference in cost is pennies.

Your health and safety is more important than the pennies. Be sensible.

I used one pen for 8 weeks (10mg dose but I took 5mg instead) but I did keep it in the fridge the entire time. Worked just fine, no issues at all.

Why is you bonus dose on day 35? Unless you're spreading your doses out with longer than a week in between them of course.

Dose 1 is day 1, dose 2 is day 8, dose 3 is day 15, dose 4 is day 22 and bonus dose 5 is day 29. Means all doses are used within the 30 day limit of the pen.

To the op, I ordered the same syringes as someone linked further up. They work great, and you know they are proper medical grade syringes.

@macandcheeseforthewine Sorry typo - should have said 6th dose - my brain said 6th but my fingers had other ideas! 🙈.

I take 6 x 3.75mg doses from a 5mg pen on days 0,7,14,21,28,35

First 5 doses are possible before the pen locks and 6th dose I take with a syringe. It is 5 days beyond the 30 day limit but I am comfortable, if I also keep in the fridge, to take that low risk of just 5 days over.
