Delaying first dose for running event?

Hi all, hope everyone is well! I've just been prescribed my first weight loss injections, they are being delivered today. I have a 10k run booked next weekend, now I only run very slowly so getting a PB is irrelevant really, but I would like to actually finish. If I start the jab today is there still a good chance I won't feel well by next Sunday? Or am I likely to be through the worst of the adaptation by then? I know noone can predict if I'll be too tired to finish (or actually crap myself mid race!!!) but if people could give me a bit of personal feedback on how they felt 10/11 days in that might help me decide if I need to wait.
Obviously I've made an assumption that when it comes I can just leave it in the fridge for 10 days before I use it, feel free to correct if I'm wrong on that!

I would just wait. It will be perfectly safe in the fridge until the expiry, which could be from months to over a year away.

I waited a week or so due to an upcoming dental appointment, as I wasn't sure if I'd be nauseous. I wasn't, but was very tired initially and felt a bit run down generally for the first couple of weeks. Thankfully I didn't get the gastric side effects that seem a bit more common.

Yes the pen will be fine in the fridge - you are supposed to use it within 30 days of first use (but lots of people go way over that).

You might find that you have no side effects at all (I didn't have anything until about 6 weeks in when I started noticing more hair falling out and feeling cold).

Good luck with your race.

I was fine running short distances all the way through 2.5 - 7.5 mg doses. Anything up to 10k was fine. I had a bit of nausea in the first fortnight but nothing that stopped me running. The main issue was not wanting to eat before/during a run so I'd get a bit light headed. I had to be strict with myself about having something carby and a big drink before a run. Once I went past 10k fueling was tricky but I worked it out. Running feels so much better after losing 4 stone! Good luck with your race!

Everyone’s different. A quick glance at this board will tell you some people react and some people don’t, so it should be obvious that it’s your decision and your risk.
