Can I just walk into a pharmacy and buy pen needles?

On holiday in the UK and brought my pen but forgot to bring a needle.

Can I buy one from a pharmacy? Or I assume it would need to be a pack of 4?

I think they come in fairly big boxes (mine is 100!). And I think it really depends on the pharmacy! If you’re anywhere near the Surrey Hills I can give you some😂

Annoyingly I have a huge box at home which I bought when the golden dose still worked with a hard twist.

i would hope most pharmacies would help you out, take your pen or photo of prescription with you to show what you need it for.

If you can't find pen needles you could buy syringes. Turn your pen to one as usual (this will allow the plunger to move) then withdraw just over 0.6ml) - allowing a little extra to prime the syringe. If you can't withdraw enough you can turn the pen further clicks.

0.6ml is the full dose - so if you are taking the full dose this is what you should have after priming.

To prime hold the syringe so the air can move up. Tap it to helpair move and eject the air and a little liquid.

Buying your syringes you want a very fine and short needle ideally so it doesn't hurt.

If your pen runs out of "clicks" you can withdraw the rest of the medicine without turning the pen - the plunger allows it.

This happened to me last year. I went to Boots and showed the pharmacist my order (was with a different pharmacy) and she just gave me a few in a little box.

Thank you all

Once you explain your situation and show them the pen/prescription , they should sell it to you.

Think it depends on the pharmacy. First couple I tried didn’t have any. Found one that had them but I had to buy a box of 100. Only £8.00 so was worth it to me.
