Mounjaro with BMI 30

Hi all,

I’m wondering if anyone has any experience of taking Mounjaro with BMI of 30?

i am 5ft4 and weigh 12.4 stone. After my second baby I can’t seem to shift the weight at all, it’s taken me over 6 months to lose 6lbs.

My usual weight was always fluctuating between10-10.6 stone. It is really starting to affect my mental health as I’ve been eating in a calorie deficit, walking, weight resistance training but cannot seem to get the weight off my stomach and thighs

were just back from holiday and my clothes are all tight or oversized, I took no pictures with the kids as I hated myself in them all

i understand weight isn’t everything but I can’t see anything of where anyone has used the injections on the lower end of the BMI to just help kick start/help with the weight loss

If I wasn’t trying I would understand but I want to get close to 11 stone. Has anyone used it with similar starting weight/ how quickly did you start to see weight loss?

thanks in advance

Mine was 30.1 and if you search you will see plenty of threads from people with less to lose than others. I have been on it 12 weeks and am now at BMI 26.4. I have about a stone and a half to go. I microdosed to begin with as I was concerned with side effects and took a half dose. I have just started taking a 2.5 dose (not recommending, just setting out my experience). I have lost 25 pounds so far.

Thank you so much, I just searched and found loads🙈 I swear google never found those articles for me!

Hi! I’ve been on it for a year now and gone from BMI 31 to 28.5, so it’s been slow and steady.

Willowy1982 · 11/04/2025 11:20

My BMI was 30 when I started in it's now 20 and I'm maintaining.

Goinghome24 · 11/04/2025 12:01

I am the same height as you but started at a bmi of 32 at 13st.7 in December.

Am now bmi 27, 11st 6, and aiming to be under 10st.

Tritated slowly staying on lowest dose as long as possible.

Had a few weeks where I stayed the same but I am steadily losing.

I'm 5ft 6 and was 12 stone when I started Mounjaro. So fairly similar starting stats to you.

I started on Jan 1st and I am now 9 stone 6!

Hardly any side effects so far and I'm about start maintenance

Good luck 💪

It doesn't really matter if your BMI is 30,32,40 or whatever
Obesity can be treated, don't wait for it to get any worse when there is a fantastic treatment!

Hi everyone, thanks mg or your replies.
I went on and ordered a pen and provided my details, pictures etc but two pharmacies have rejected me for not being eligible? Can you let me know how you got yours and where from?

I was BMI 30 and was turned down by Asda pharmacy for my photos not looking plump enough. It turned out to be a good thing - Voy were fine, were cheaper and I liked the support framework. I did have nasty side effects at first until I really cut my doses down. I've lost 11kg over a couple of months, will try to lose maybe 5kg more and then that's it for me - I will be a healthy BMI and the weight that feels right for me long term.

NowGetUp · 12/04/2025 14:19

My tip would be to make yourself look awful in the photos!!! I stuck my belly out as far as it would go, gave myself 20 chins, and wore 3 pairs of jeans! I looked terrible but noone questioned my weight or need for the medication!!!! 😉🤣👍

That's crazy, you literally fit the criteria! I started with Asda, now am with Oushk

RC1992 · 12/04/2025 16:00

Asda and Lloyds pharmacy have both rejected me 😤 trust me the photos were awful 🙈 I’ll maybe try elsewhere one more time. After everyone’s comments I’d started to get excited about getting started and get the weight off but now feel so deflated. Will post if I end up with any joy!

Your BMI is under 30 so no one will prescribe Mounjaro for you. It’s against the law.

SoScarletItWas · 12/04/2025 16:11

Your BMI is 29.5, that’s why you’re being rejected.

RC1992 · 13/04/2025 06:52

An online calculator and my weight scales have both put my BMI at 30

No I promise you are under. Are you 12 stone four pounds or 12 point four stone (about 12.6)? In both cases you are just under 30. That is why. Unless you are shorter than 5’4”.

NHS puts 12st 4lbs at 29.5, and nutracheck makes it 29.4. You can only get Mounjaro with a BMI of under 30 if you have other medical conditions.
