2.5mg twice a week?

Calling all jabbers that have tried 5mg but over the course of the week used x2 2.5mg?

I would love to know your experience as I’m considering trying this. I’ve done 3.75 for a few weeks but after a few days it had felt like I had injected water, no suppression and food noise was very loud. I’ve had 2 5mg injections and the side effects are knocking me for 6. I did a few weeks on 5 previously but I couldn’t hack the side effects so went on 3.75mg.

I know it’s not within the guidelines but I’m happy to try at obviously my own risk. I don’t want to give up on this, it’s the only thing that has helped me stick to a calorie deficit but not sure how long I can cope with the side effects from 5mg.

I did this for several weeks. Previously did 2.5 + 1.25, then went up to 2.5 + 2.5. I had tried 3.75 in one go but found it too much. Found the split dose smoothed the effects.

This week I’ve taken my 5mg in one dose (because it was the ‘bonus’ dose which kills the pen). Effects feel much more extreme in terms of satiety. Also am freezing cold again. But otherwise fine. I had after all being taking 5 every week for several weeks, even if not all at once. Will see how I’m feeling by the end of the week.

Side effects do reduce as you get used to the dose. So if you persist with 5 you might well feel ok soon.

I'm considering doing this but with the 7.5 mg.

I injection a Sunday and since going up on a Monday I have horrible sulphur burps, nausea and diahorea. I am nor feeling good right now and struggled to eat much of anything today but by Sunday I'm really hungry and eating 3 full meals a day with a couple snacks. While it all evens out over the week calorie wise I am considering splitting my dose and have 2 x 3.25 mg injections a week.

RuleBreakerRebelOk · 07/04/2025 20:12

I tried splitting the dose for a couple of weeks at 7.5mg dose. It was all going really well and reduced the massive shifts in satiety and some of the tiredness I would get after the injection. But then there was a thread on here where people were all having a go about how you shouldn't go against the guidelines blah blah blah and I got scared and last week went back to one big dose of 7.5mg. I haven't liked it. Got tired and headache and massive suppression for a couple of days then from day 4 no suppression at all again. I just don't like the yo-yo of suppression. Really want things to be more on an even keel.

I think I'm going to go back to splitting the dose into two again. I'd like to get some proper advice and did try contacting Eli lilli (not sure if that's how you spell it!) but couldn't find an email address and don't really want to place a call to the USA! Wish there was somewhere we could get decent advice. The online pharmacies won't support you doing anything outside the guidelines and GPs no nothing about glp1's.

I'd like a "talk to Frank" service! But about glp 1s! Somewhere we could go for decent, honest advice and where there is no judgement

I do this.

I am on 3.75mg which I've split into two 1.8mg doses. I take them every four days. And note day one is 24 hours after the day you've injected not the day of the dose.

I don't have a lot of side effects and much prefer the stability of a split dose than the big dose and side effects once a week.

If you plot a weekly dose every 7 days vs a 1/2 dose every 4 days dosage on a glp plotter you'll see how much more variance there is in the former vs the latter.

To be honest, after several weeks on 3.75 and having no side effects (or effects), your body is probably used to the medication enough to be on 5. I don't know how 2.5mg twice a week will be much different.

cloudjumper · 07/04/2025 22:38

It doesn’t quite work like that. The drug gets metabolised once it’s injected, so with the multiple injections you will never really know what dose your body is actually having.
Agree with the previous poster that your body is likely to be used to 3.75 mg now, so doing 2x2.5 isn’t likely to give you better effects. I would consider trying the 5 mg again.

Somethingthecatdraggedin7 · 07/04/2025 22:44

I think you should not be playing around with dosing without discussion and agreement from your prescriber.

I’m glad it’s worked for you. I think it’s worth me giving it a try. I can’t cope with the 3-4 days of such extreme side effects.
