Anyone with a starting BMI 40+?

I'm about to start my jabs with a BMI of 40.3. Ideally I'd want to get to a BMI about 22. Anyone else here on that kind of trajectory? Thanks!

I was at 39.7 if that counts - am at 34 now

lovealongbath · 05/04/2025 22:14

I was 43 when I started, now 37.

onwards and downwards 💪

Burnserns · 05/04/2025 22:15

40.2 (my highest was 42). Now 36.1, I've just taken my 10th injection.

Redlightbulb · 05/04/2025 22:19

I started MJ at 43 and now 35 after nearly 4 stone lost in 8 months.
4 1/2 stone to get to the top end of healthy BMI so bit of a slog but I’ll get there.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 05/04/2025 22:20

Hi, I started with a bmi of 47.5, I’m currently 37.8 ☺️ - started 9th October

VoluptuousVillian · 05/04/2025 22:53

Starting next week at 44.9 it's going to be a slog but definitely worth it

TidyDancer · 05/04/2025 22:59

Mine was 49.7 when I started, 39.7 as of this morning so down by exactly 10 points (lost nearly 4.5stone so far). One of the biggest and most bizarre thrills I’ve had so far doing this is finally being low enough to get a BMI that’s on the NHS chart! Just over 7 months into this now.

unsync · 05/04/2025 23:26

I was 44 and am now 31.3. It's taken me just over a year and I reckon I have another 20kgs to go.

Bowling4soup · 05/04/2025 23:28

Wow amazing ! I haven’t started yet, my bmi is 45, hoping to get started on Wegovy soon

Thats incredible
Firstly congratulations!
Secondly how long has it taken you?
Any hints/tips you can share to keep on track? I'm finding the prospect quite daunting right now at 44.9

WeAllHaveWings · 06/04/2025 07:36

Started last June at BMI 45. Now BMI 32. Lost 6st 9lbs so far.

There are a couple of threads running one called >5st and the other >10st to lose where, if you like, you can join people in the same boat with longer MJ journeys.

Therunecaster · 06/04/2025 07:45

I started on the 8/7/24 with a BMI of 41, I'm down to 22 now

Dee03 · 06/04/2025 07:45

My bmi was 44 in oct but now it’s 36. No idea what I’m aiming for but I’m going in the right direction at least

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 06/04/2025 07:56

@VoluptuousVillian thanks! It’s been 9 1/2 months so far.

I think setting small goals and not looking at the bigger picture has probably helped. There is no way I ever thought I could get to this weight!! I don’t stress over side effects - I was completely broken by my size and bad health and saw this as my last ditch attempt to lose weight so a bit of constipation or diarrhoea or whatever felt a small price to pay.

I focus on delicious food! I want everything I eat to taste incredible and still eat butter, cheese, cream etc nothing ‘low fat’ and as few upfs as possible (but that’s personal preference and I only have to feed myself not a family!)

I think it’s really been just keeping the faith and understanding that there will be days/weeks when I have gained weight or stayed the same and the thing that matters is the overall trend. Once I got past the ‘will this actually work’ stage, I began to just trust that I will get there in the end!

Fatmumslim01 · 06/04/2025 10:41

Me 🙂

Starting BMI was 39.6 and now 2 weeks into MJ is 38.5 🙂 I've lost 6 pounds so far

My goal is to get to around a BMI of around 30 and then review.

Started 5wks ago at bmi 45, now 42

SilenceInside · 06/04/2025 21:48

I was BMI 50 when I started, 9 months ago, BMI is now 32ish.

TrinityWaves · 06/04/2025 21:53

I started at 43, now 35 - 4 months later. I'm aiming for 25-27.

Moier · 06/04/2025 21:57

Mine was 45 beginning of September.. it's now 37.

Itsjustafly · 06/04/2025 21:59

Started at 40.7, down to 27.1. I've been on 11 months so I'm not the quickest loser, just hit 6 stone loss this week. It's taken me 3 months to lose the last stone so slowed down a lot lately. If it takes me another 6 months to get the final stone off I don't really care, it's worked better than weight loss surgery for me.

JasonTindallsTan · 06/04/2025 22:03

Started with a BMI of 42.3 and current BMI is 35.6. I feel so much better and there is still such a long way to go!

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 06/04/2025 22:40

Started at BMI 59.5 three years ago, on Mounjaro since July last year, current BMI 29.3
