Unexpected Side Effect

Name changed for obvious reasons. I’ve been on Mounjaro since December and I’ve finally got my dose up to a level where in the last 10 days I’m getting much better appetite suppression. But I’ve also been feeling really horny. I’m post menopausal and on my own now, and had kind of stopped thinking about sex. Until this week and I’m feeling incredibly sexed up (and even sent off an order to lovehoney to update my personal equipment, iykwim). Is it just me?

Guess it’s just me then. Maybe if my body isn’t getting its usual dopamine hits from eating, it’s looking for other thrills.

I promise this is a genuine question- I’m not a troll.

I am not sure about your dopamine theory because the drug tends to mute all dopamine reception - anhedonia is a reported side effect. It is why some people with adhd type disorders find it has a calming effect.

But as a fellow post-menopausal woman, there is one interesting effect of weight loss which doesn't get much written about, which is the release of oestrogen and other hormones that have been held inside fat cells. This can lead to a lessening or cessation of symptoms such as hot flushes, and who knows, perhaps is the cause of your 'side effects'?!
