Do I just wait this out?

Or do I need to speak to someone?

I injected 10mg on Tuesday evening before bed and woke up yesterday with nausea but that’s been the same with every jab, it seems to give me morning type sickness.

Yesterday evening I could not stop going to the toilet and just felt really exhausted so much so I was in bed by 8pm and asleep by 9pm. This morning I was sick once after I made myself gag with the toothbrush and today I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been to the toilet. I’m still going and now it’s just water coming out, I’ve not eaten since 1pm yesterday and I’m not hungry at all. Every time I drink it’s going straight though. I also have a pounding headache and just want to lay down.

Ive had side effects before, nausea etc but nothing like this.

Am I supposed to do anything or do I just wait it out and hope it stops soon?

I have terrible health anxiety so this is not good!

I’d call NHS direct and see what they advise. You will probably be okay but you might be getting dehydrated. Is this the first time you have taken 10mg? The thing about Mounjaro is that it stays in your system for quite a long time before it starts to reduce. That means that sometimes people need medical treatment for side effects as otherwise they would end up very dehydrated.

I would also go down a dose after this.

Also if you have any electrolytes at home, take them.

SilenceInside · 03/04/2025 15:58

Have you got/have you taken OTC treatments for D&V, and have you tried electrolytes rather than just water. I'd start with the usual home treatments for D&V and see if they help.

Are you losing weight?

Umthisisabitawkward · 03/04/2025 16:00

I’ve just come off 5 days of awful diarrhoea after my 2nd week on 5mg (first week on 5mg was fine!) It seems to have completely resolved itself as of this morning, but I’m still going back down to 2.5mg on my next jab! Over the last day or two I was drinking a couple of glasses of plain kefir plus some coconut water for electrolytes each day, and I wonder if that helped. I ended up taking loperamide throughout the day yesterday, which has resolved things. If it had lasted until today, I was going to call my GP. Sympathy to you, even if I’ve no advice!

IrisPallida · 03/04/2025 16:01

Well, your first port of call should be to contact your pharmacy, but in truth the best thing you can do to help your symptoms is eat. If you don't eat you will feel sick, dizzy, exhausted, nauseous... So much of MJ symptoms is caused by not eating!

Eat something, even if it is a few plain crackers or some plain rice. Drinking plenty, including something sweet with added electrolytes will also help.

Moier · 03/04/2025 16:05

Loperamide/ electrolytes.
And then do the BRAT diet.
Bananas/ Rice/ Apples/ Toast.
It will settle down.

Thanks so much for the replies, sorry I didn’t come back sooner. I felt awful yesterday evening so just stayed in bed and only got up for the toilet, I still couldn’t face any food. I’ve just had a slice of dry toast so will see what happens, my stomach is so sore.

Not the first time I’ve taken 10mg, I got up to 10 a few months ago but it made me feel really rough (not like this though) so Medexpress suggested going back down and working my way up again but it’s obviously too much for me.

I’ve been on Mounjaro since June and have lost 4 stone so it’s been amazing for me but my stomach doesn’t like anything higher than 7.5 for some reason! I’ve taken the whole thing so slowly and was on 2.5 for 3 months because it worked. I would love to lose another 1.5 stone but this has really scared me!

I was like this with 7.5, my body just couldn't tolerate it at all, so I went down to 5 and stayed there to get to my goal weight.
I think you forget too that you are much slimmer now so a higher dose will probably have an even bigger impact.

healthybychristmas · 05/04/2025 00:03

I just stayed on a 7.5. I had a bit of bother with the pharmacy so went down to 5 for a couple of months and then back up to 7.5 again.

AskKitty · 05/04/2025 02:36

If you are continuing to lose weight it’s not clear why are you going up a dose. Can you not just drop back to 7.5 mg if it’s working?

Barkleyspaubles · 05/04/2025 03:17

My nausea last week on 5mg was almost unbearable. I have been on it since January and lost only a stone. I powered through at work but it was touch and go.

I’d been on 7.5 for 8 weeks and it wasn’t working as well as it had been so I decided to go up but I won’t be using 10mg again! I’m still waiting for Medexpress to get back to me with some advice because I’m due to jab again on Tuesday evening but not sure whether to do 5mg or 7.5mg.

The nausea is awful, I’ve had morning sickness type nausea since I started on 5mg. Really feel for you if it’s so bad.

I never think of the weight loss and how my body might not tolerate it as much now so thanks for that because it does make sense. Maybe I’ll go back to 5mg and see how I get on.

It’s SO not worth being ill, IMO. I had mild nausea for two days and it was horrible! I considered it as a warning shot, to slow down. Even if weight loss is slower, and it probably will be if you’ve already lost weight, one has to LIVE 🙂! My weight loss is slow, 1lb per week, but side effects minimal, if any.

Cerialkiller · 05/04/2025 14:41

This was the reason I did interim doses. I read lots of accounts like this especially going up to 5ml so did an half way dose each time. Minimal or no side effects after my very first dose of 2.5. I think it's very sensible to contact the provider. In your place I would probably drop to 5 or do a split dose of 7.5 with a couple of days in between.

The concern would be going over the threshold that your body can't tolerate. much of the 10ml will still be in your system. Tempting to delay the next dose by a day or two to reduce the load already in you.
