Mounjaro causing panic attacks?

Hi, I started the mounjaro jab 2 days ago and on both nights I have woken up at a similar time having an awful experience. My body feels hot and I have tingling almost like pins and needles all through my body and even my chest. It lasts about 5 minutes, stops and then happens again. It's really scary and the first night I panicked that much I nearly called for an ambulance. I have asked the pharmacist and she thinks it sounds like a panic attack but It seems a bit of a coincidence that it's the same time I have started using Mounjaro.i was just wondering if any one else had anything similar? I do know a few people on the jab but the only symptom they are having is sickness.. which I haven't got. TIA

There was another poster a few months back who had the same issue of some sort of anxiety/panic attack (I don't recall whether the symptoms were like yours though) - it might be worth doing a search.

But MJ can affect hormone systems and it might be that? What you describe sounds rather like a hot flush. What is your age?

Thanks for the reply. I'm 39. I started taking sertraline 9 weeks ago as well, so I'm not sure if it's a combination but whatever it is it's really scary! I know a few people on mounjaro now but none have anything similar. I feel really spaced out through the day as well😔

Hey, just to say increased anxiety and panic attacks are a mounjaro side effect. You can find lots of threads on it, and there’s a Facebook group with thousands of people who have experienced the same

Thank you so much. I am feeling a little bit more positive now. I will see how it goes and hope the panic attacks stop

No problem, hope it passes quickly for you! I had really bad panic attacks in my first week, and decided to continue on a half dose (1.25mg). I mainly only get the anxiety when I’m going up a dose now (I’ve been on mj since October) - some of us are just very sensitive to it!

I took my first 2.5 Mounjaro jab 9 days ago. Two hours afterwards I was plunged into a massive "hypo" crash, followed by a fit of uncontrollable trembling, blurred vision, confusion, and most frightening of all, an overwhelming feeling of sheer panic, which, I was later told, was caused by my body releasing a massive amount of adrenaline in response to the rapid and massive drop in blood-glucose. This lasted 3 hours!

After that, for the next six days, every time I ate a meal I reacted the same way. The shaking fits combined with a panic attack lasted between 3 and 5 hours. Five days after the jab I had an attack that lasted a horrific 17 hours.

Needless to say, the pen went straight in the bin.

I started my own thread about it today because I had not seen yours!
