Was your belly the last to go?

I’m a stone and a half down, with around the same left to go. I know everyone is different but I’m just wondering if for most people if belly flab was the last thing to go? I am exercising, mix of cardio and weights. In reality I think I’m just at that impatient stage.

For me, yea it was. I lost 4 stone, it’s ok considering my age and weight loss but is a little deflated balloon, although really not that bad.

Interesting – for me, the scale is being really slow to move but I've gone from a very tight size 16 to an indisputable size 12 and just this morning I wondered if that was because of my belly fat going

Offcom · 01/04/2025 17:42

Erm, that was meant to say JEANS, i.e. relevant to waist size

Summerhillsquare · 01/04/2025 20:02

Not exactly. The fat went off my middle first , then everywhere else, then what remained seems to have relocated itself to my abdomen again. Hey ho. I've kept 12 kilos off so that'll do me.

Eminybob · 01/04/2025 20:06

Yeah. I’ve lost 7 stone, have gone from a size 20 to an 8-10 and yet I’ve STILL got a belly. Some of it is excess skin and some is diastasis recti from when I had DC, but there is defo still fat that is refusing to budge.

PurpleCoo · 01/04/2025 20:27

I think it will depend on your shape. If you are an apple, then belly will be the last to go for sure.

Pear shaped it will be the hips/bottom/thighs

I am an hour glass, so the weight tends to come off my belly/waist quite quickly, but it's pretty evenly spread across my body to be fair. Although for me it feels like my arms are the last to reduce.

MolluscMonday · 01/04/2025 20:34

Yes. My arms and legs are lean, my face is starting to look a bit gaunt even, but my belly hangs on (literally) till the bitter end!

Wow @Eminybob that's a fantastic result. I am also a size 20 and am 10 days into my mounjaro journey! I also have diastasis recti, I can't imagine every having a flat tummy honestly it's like a beer belly after multiple csections. If I lift it up I look about 6 months pregnant 😱

I don’t expect mine to go completely. Even my naturally very skinny friends who’ve had children have a squashy bit of spare tyre there. But it has shrunk.

AmythestBangle · 02/04/2025 08:49

Yes. I am nearly at BMI 22 and still the spare tyre persists. I didn't have it when I was last this weight, which was 20 years ago. I would love to shift it, but that will probably involve the rest of me getting too thin (I am old so the thin parts look pretty wrinkly), so I may have to live with it.

sweetpickle2 · 02/04/2025 09:57

Mine wouldn't go completely unless I dropped about 5 dress sizes, which I can't be arsed with. I still have a belly but it's definitely shrunk- I take my measurements with a tape measure as well as weigh.

LaurieFairyCake · 02/04/2025 10:15

The very outside of my thighs are still the worst for me, the only place left I have fat. Saddlebags. Had no idea they were there until I got to a size 8 and I don’t remember them being there as a 20 year old.
I have no belly left.

Penguinmouse · 02/04/2025 11:20

Back fat went first, belly fat has gone down but after a c-section it’s a bit of an apron so I don’t think it’ll ever properly go. My stomach is more defined now though, I can see the proper outline of muscle (was hidden for a long time 😂)

WhoWhereWhatWhy · 02/04/2025 12:57

I'm down to a size 10 and BMI 23 and I've still got a belly. Its a surprise to me, as the biggest part of me was always my bum. Unfortunately, my bum is now flat and my face has sagged, but I've still got a podgy belly, above and below belly button. I think i need to dramatically reduce the sugar and carbs to stand any chance of reducing it.

Don't regret the MJ though.
