Stomach problems on Mounjaro

Good morning, has anyone had diarrhoea on Mounjaro ? I had no issues on 2.5mg And no issues on the first week of 5mg. But second week in I have really bad diarrhoea. I also started on statins couple weeks ago so wondering if it could be that rather than the Mounjaro.

I’ve had diarrhoea and a churning tummy for 3 days now. I’m week 10 of 2.5mg and had no symptoms. I’ve been wondering whether somethings doing the rounds? I had a Mirena coil fitted recently too for precancerous cells so I agree with that feeling of is it this or that??? It’s so hard to know for certain.

Yes, I am on week 3 and had my 3rd bout last night. It's exhausting. But everytime I've had it, it's coincided with me eating something off my usual plan - yesterday I had a sushi pack from the supermarket (cooked fish, not raw) for lunch, a rare choice for me.
So I'm going to stick more rigidly to plain whole foods now, hopefully that will resolve it 🤞

My tummy is not happy for the two days after my jab (I'm on 5mg) but then it settles down for the rest of the week. I'm going up a dose next week and I'm worried about it to be honest!

RagzRebooted · 27/03/2025 09:11

Yes, at various stages and I've been on it a year. Once lasted about 5 days when I went up to 10mg.
Occasionally get it for a night after I've eaten something dangerous. I was up for an hour at 4am last night because I had a burrito for dinner, agonising trapped wind followed by diarrhea. Don't think the beans agreed with me... Nice new low weight this morning though!

You will have seen from your patient information leaflet that diarrhoea is one of the most common side effects of MJ. Having been on this board for nearly a year I'd say that the vast majority of people experience some form of gastric side effect at some point, especially on the move from 2.5 to 5mg.

I haven't had any gastric side effects at all since I started taking a daily probiotic. I highly recommend it.

I’ve just ordered some pro and pre biotics actually

I got this on my second and then again fourth dose of 5 mg. Went back down to 3.75 mg on the advice of my endocrinologist.

Umthisisabitawkward · 31/03/2025 07:27

I’m on my second week of 5mg and have had a couple of days of really bad diarrhoea and nausea. I’m thinking of going down to 3.75 for my next dose (or even back to 2.5mg!) if it continues. Really hoping it eases off soon, it’s awful :( I need to look up how many clicks I’d need to count to do a 2.5mg or 3.75mg dose.

LunchtimeNaps · 31/03/2025 12:19

I took the first jab on my 3rd pen of 7.5mg. Rarely had any side effects but this morning I got extreme stomach pain vomiting and diarrhoea. It's eased off now. Haven't eaten anything since yesterday lunchtime. I'm really disappointed and feeling quite sorry for myself.

idrinkandiknowthings · 31/03/2025 13:22

@Umthisisabitawkward 44 clicks for 3.75. I was also really ill for a day on 5mg, so much so that I decided I had to stop it. I didn't, but only injected 3, then 3.75. So far so good. Bet that jinxes it!

I was wondering how to preempt digestive issues ie stop it before it starts.

I haven't had many upset stomachs since being on Mounjaro (I'm on 12.5mg for type 2 diabetes) but I am going on holiday in 2 days and trying to decide whether to take my next week's dose before I go or on day of travelling (Saturday) or take it with me.

If I take it with me I am thinking I will need plenty of Immodium in case I have something that upsets my digestive system but rather take preemptive measures so I can enjoy my holiday.

What do others do? Take Mounjaro before going away or take it with you

Joolseykins · 07/09/2025 10:36

Hi, I’ve been taking Mounjaro for 7 days (2.5) and I’ve had tummy churning and chronic diarrhoea for 5 days. I can’t even leave the house! Is this normal? I’m even getting up 3 times in the night to go.

Glad I saw this post. Been on MJ since February with no issues. Been on 7.5 for 5 weeks. Last week I had discomfort in bottom left of abdomen near hip at front, a bit like the rightness you get in the build up to getting a stitch like feeling. Just uncomfortable and sensitive. Lasted 3 days along with diarrhea and churning stomach. I put it down to having eaten something dodgy. Felt great yesterday and thought I was fully recovered.

Last night had my 6th 7.5 MJ dose. This morning same sensation/symptoms have returned. I think i may need to stop. Just wish I knew what it was
