Looking for some success stories from people who have around 2st to lose (starting BMI 31). Like how much did you lose in your first month? Obviously I know everyone is different. Im 5ft 7 and 90kg.

Just taken my first dose this morning and definitely feel a LOT less hungry. I've eaten 1048 calories which is absolutely crazy for me to get my head around and 90g protein.

I am also a regular gym goer, mostly weightlifting so if anyones got any tips on how I make sure I don't lose all of my gains. I already have protein supplements, clear whey, shakes, yoghurts etc.

Thanks!

Hello! I’ll be doing my first injection tomorrow and I’m also exactly same height stand weight as you! So I can’t help with advice but would be good to have someone to do it with 😊

How did you find doing the injection?

Mysticmaiden · 24/03/2025 20:29

I started on bmi 32.4 and lost only 6.2lbs in a month. I say only as its still almost half a stone but if I did better with my food and drinking water (I didn't drink any extra water on top of tea and coffees until after 3 months) I would probably have lost more. 2.5mg only suppressed me for 2.5 weeks so I guess 6lbs is a miracle really!

addictedtotheflats · 24/03/2025 20:31

Oh wow really! I honestly can't believe how well it has worked, especially so quickly! Also, I didn't really think about food at all, well I did but I didn't feel the need to act upon it, usually I just eat something for the sake of it.

I'm a nurse so the injection was nothing, its the tiniest needle I barely felt it.

FeatherInTheWind · 24/03/2025 20:49

That’s good news that it doesn’t hurt!

And amazing you felt it did quickly. Not sure whether to do a morning or evening dose now, though I have no patience so it’ll end up being tomorrow when I ge them from work.

how long have you been weightlifting? I also lift weights lol!

shrinkingthiswinter · 24/03/2025 21:14

I’m the same height as you and was 103.6 kg in early December. Now 86.05, with goal maybe 78. I’ve gone up gradually to 5mg, losing about kilo a week.

I do strength training or other gym stuff 2-5 times a week. Keen to build and keep muscle before menopause. Had been training for a couple of years and eating fairly carefully and had already lost a couple of kilos, but very slowly before MJ.

Now my scales say I’ve lost barely more than a kilo of muscle alongside all the fat, even though I had 4 weeks off gym with flu. My cardio is now finally ‘above average’. And I feel much stronger. So it’s all very possible.

It sounds like you’re already well on top of this with the exercise and protein. I think that’s all you need really. The protein is important not just for muscle but because it works with the medicine to make you feel full. Hope it all goes very well for you.

Deadringer · 24/03/2025 21:22

I took my first one this morning, didn't feel it at all. I ate quite a lot today, I was at an event and had a 3 course meal and was a bit worried that it might make me ill but I seem to be OK. I haven't eaten anything since 3pm and I am a bit peckish now but I am afraid to eat just in case so I think i will just go to bed early. Hoping I will wake up tomorrow feeling great and with no appetite.

Flatleak · 24/03/2025 21:24

I’m the same height as you and went from 100kg to 70kg in about a year on wegovy. Stopped and put 5kg back on in a month (my eating was awful) then maintained. Am now trying mounjaro to shift the last bit and may stay on a maintenance dose

addictedtotheflats · 24/03/2025 22:43

@FeatherInTheWindI've been consistently lifting weights for almost 3 years, I can never consistently stay in a calorie deficit long enough to enjoy my hard work though😂 I'll have an amazing 5-6 months, feel great then just fall off the wagon and back to where I was to start!

OP posts:
addictedtotheflats · 24/03/2025 22:51

@shrinkingthiswinter
thank you so much!

its all so new to me as, up until very recently I have been maintaining my weight on 2300 calories a day, lifting 3 - 4 times a week. Although I have definitely been eating more than that over the last few months as I have gained about 6kg, so 1000 a day is 🤯

hope I get some great results like yourself!!

Yeh in the first few weeks is mainly water weight and I had a lot of inflammation with insulin resistance and ibs. I'm an nhs scientist, I do feel very tired probably because I don't eat enough calories but i also didnt eat meat for 5 years amd have chronic anaemia for 15 years. I do take vitamins and I tend to eat 850-1200 cals a day and my deficit is 1250. I eat less start of week and more at end when I'm hungrier. I'm on 10mg started in October, best advice is drink lots of water and eat more protein, less carbs. I've lost almost 2 stone since october started bmi 32.4 now 27.7.

FeatherInTheWind · 25/03/2025 06:45

@addictedtotheflats yes, consistency is my issue in 2025 (injury and then illness 🤦‍♀️) really hoping that starting this is the motivation to get back on it because I feel so much better when I stick to exercising

I eat fairly well, lots of protein, not too many carbs, loose weight then have a “weekend off” which turns into a fortnight and I’m back where is was 😂

let us know how day 2 goes, it will be interesting to see if we experience it the same way

@Mysticmaidenits great to hear your success, 2 stone is great!

addictedtotheflats · 25/03/2025 20:27

Day 2 done, still feel really suppressed but no other symptoms! I've had 1122 calories and 132g of protein! Happy with that

Please can I join you? My kit came today so I will be starting in the morning, I’ve been silently committed for a month stalking this board but I needed to see a horrific side angle photo of me last week to give me the kick up my ass I needed.

Im 5ft6 & 81kg. I’m fit and active but never in enough of a calorie deficit to shift the stone I’ve put on since stopping smoking in 2023, I have 2.4 stones to lose in total to get me to very happy.

I have a chicken lunch prepped for tomorrow, planning to take in the morning before I head off to work which might be a foolhardy thing to do?

addictedtotheflats · 25/03/2025 20:45

@Ofcoursehesthefkingfarmerof course you can join! Welcome. I took mine in the morning and it worked within hours. I need to take some progress photos but I can't bare them, but I know if I don't ill regret it.

I have my first 13 hour shift on MJ tomorrow so that will be interesting to compare the hunger to normal. You are so good prepping, I've nothing in my fridge🙈 we have an M&S food at the hospital so im sure ill find something there.

Hi @addictedtotheflats I am your height and I started MJ when it came out a year ago. I was 14.3 to start. I thought I’d be happy to get to 11 stone.

I am here a year later as an absolute gym bunny who also lifts. I am also 8.8. I am toned as anything now. (Well, beneath the loose skin and non-existent boobs!)

Best wishes for your journey.

Imonmyway · 25/03/2025 21:03

Also starting tonight so jumping on

I'm 193lbs after 2 babies in 3 years

Goal weight Is 148lbs

Hoping to.do it quickly but avoid any loose skin 🫣

Elfie23 · 25/03/2025 21:18

Hi all I took my first dose this morning. Had a strange day, bit of a headache but the tip of my tongue went really numb! That caused some panic so then had a rash too 🙈 took an antihistamine and spoke to a lovely pharmacist at Oushk who said sounded like a mild allergic reaction. So need to keep an eye on things and see how it goes.
other than that I took the injection about 11:30am and by 5pm didn’t even want dinner - food noise gone!
As long as I wake up looking normal and not like I’ve had 100mls lip filler I’ll be happy x

Good luck to all the new starters!

I’m 37, 5ft 8in and 15st 8 - would like to get to 11.7

Yellowsubmarine55 · 25/03/2025 21:43

Took my first today at 9.30 this morning and I feel grim now. Been fine all day, maybe a bit woozy but I forced dinner down and now feel 🤢

It was only a chicken breast, jacket potato and lots of veg but the potato tasted odd so ate half and it's all just sitting there. I've drunk 2+ litres of water and I'm never having a tea again as that tasted rubbish earlier.

I've got young kids so not really want to tell them so need to keep up appearances - DH knows but I hate cooking for others when I don't want it.

shrinkingthiswinter · 25/03/2025 22:59

@Yellowsubmarine55 for what it's worth, I couldn't eat that in a meal on MJ, or at least I'd feel grim afterwards, and I was always a big eater. Part of the point of the medicine is learning to listen to your body's full signals and to stop eating before you are over-full. So don't be forcing food down. Just eat what you feel like and then stop. On the medicine, protein in particular makes you feel full and keeps you full, so if you eat some vegetables and then some chicken breast, you'll get vitamins and fibre and lasting fullness.

SilenceInside · 25/03/2025 23:06

@Yellowsubmarine55 young children will really not notice if you eat a smaller portion, or leave things on your plate if you realise you are full.

Imonmyway · 26/03/2025 10:16

First jab last night at 9pm. I've been up since 7am with my baby and toddler and 2 weetabix and a coffee and still feel.hungry ! When does it start lol

I have a 10 almost 11 year old daughter so get what you mean! It’s just us two so I’m trying to make it seem like I’m still eating normally and just said I’m trying to be more healthy and healthy portion sizes etc. It’s hard though!

How are you feeling today?

shrinkingthiswinter · 26/03/2025 11:29

@Imonmyway Weetabix won’t necessarily fill you up. It’s eating protein that gives you the effect of lasting satiety with this medicine. You have to adjust the way you eat to get the most of the benefits. Eg protein yogurt, some nuts…

That said, tiredness makes you feel hungry, and you’re probably knackered with a toddler and a baby, so that’s not going to help! Hope your day goes well.

addictedtotheflats · 26/03/2025 11:43

@Imonmywaydefinitely get some more protein in. I've had a 500g pot of 0% greek yoghurt for breakfast (over a couple of hours while ive been working) with some honey which was 50g protein and 288 calories and I can't even think about having lunch anytime soon. Just made a 40g protein shake of clear whey to sip on throughout the day aswell. I'm aiming for 120g of protein a day.

Well I was all psyched up to take first dose yesterday but when I opened the parcel the needles weren’t included

Emailed supplier and delivery of needles has been arranged but not yet had notification of when they’ll arrive

So I have def been eating as normal today! 😂

@FlappyFishthat’s amazing! I hope I can post similar in a years time
