Gained 5 pounds in 3 days!

A gain of 5 pounds in 3 days on Mounjaro. How is this possible? I was 11 stone 5 on Friday. I have lost a total of 30 pounds since October. I seem to lose 1-2 pounds a week which I am happy with. I had type 2 diabetes and have got myself into remission with excellent blood sugar levels. A healthy weight for my height is between 7 stone 8 and 10 stone. (I’m short). I am happy as long as I’m losing or staying the same each week. I now look ok in my clothes but not naked 😂😂😂. Anyway as I was saying on Friday I was 11 stone 5 and now 3 days on I weigh 11 stone 10! How is that possible. I had my 60th birthday celebration at the weekend but apart from a slice of birthday cake and a glass of champagne I haven’t over eaten so.. is this a real weight gain. I looked on google and it says it’s impossible unless a health issue and I should raise with my doctor but should I wait a while to see if it actually shifts in a couple of days

No it can't be fat gain of course not. Probably water fluctuations.

How’s your 💩 action?

Cerialkiller · 24/03/2025 19:35

Well unless you have been binging you haven't gained 5lb, it's almost impossible. Your scales could be on the blink or were in a different position. Did you weigh at a different time of day? Mj slows digestion down, it could be you are just fuller generally.

While it's a lot it could just be normal fluctuations in water weight. You could be constipated.

Weigh again in a week and you will probably find that most if not all of it is gone.

You haven’t gained 5 lbs, so that’s good news!

This is water retention and there’s lots of possible reasons:
Done more exercise and muscles are retaining for healing purposes
Been busy and not drank as much
Hormones, blasted hormones
Salty food

A follow up on the good news is that it’s easily fixed, drink more water, loads of it, and have a rest making sure you get as much sleep as possible.

I can weigh 5lbs difference at the beginning and end of the day and that was before Mounjaro.

How’s your 💩 action?

Well sort of on and off. I’m not constipated but I am not as regular as I was. So I used to go daily but now Its more like every 3 days but I am eating less so thought that would be why. I normally only weigh weekly but as I had been away this weekend for my birthday I thought l would see if having a slice of cake had caused an increase but was shocked to see 5 pounds extra. I thought maybe 1 or 2 pounds but 5 pounds is like 2 bags of sugar and a bit extra 😩

I feel a lot more reassured reading these responses. I sort of thought it cant be a real gain as I am being so careful with what I am eating. I actually wonder if the scales battery was on the way out as a PP has suggested

Dodgy scales, swollen ankles, or a big poo.

Shubbypubby · 24/03/2025 21:31

time of the month/hormonal?

Sick · 24/03/2025 22:01

To gain 5lbs of fat you'd have to eat approximately 17,500 calories OVER your TDEE. A gain like that in that amount of time is always water weight/poop/inflammation.

Unless you've been chugging melted butter for 3 days straight?
