Colonoscopy when I’m on Mounjaro?

Hello, I have just started taking Mounjaro 2.5 weekly injections. I have a colonoscopy next Friday 4th. Should I stop taking them? Anyone been in this situation? Thank you xx

I would think you need to ask the team that is doing the colonoscopy for advice on this.

I did try calling them but it rang out, I will deff keep trying xx

I would stop until afterwards. You’re supposed to be off it for two weeks I’ve read

I know when I had mine last May I went with stopping weight loss meds a week before to be on safe side. I spoke to the diabetic team who just said it’s your decision but I didn’t want to risk the procedure not being able to go through on the day and took the advice from one of those pre procedure support groups on FB.

Metformin and levothyroxine were day before.

If you can get something in for wind afterwards I recommend it and some prebiotics.
If sedation is offered take it. Just passing on what another patient advised when in the waiting room.

Hey thanks ladymuck2022. So if I took my first injection today, and my colonoscopy is on the 4th April (11 days away) then it’s probably better that I don’t take my next dose until after the procedure, so it’s well out of my system?

I contacted colonoscopy team and they said I needed to ask the people who provide the medication. They didn’t really want to help or have anything to do with it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes you need to skip your next injection. This is both for the colonoscopy as you need your colon to be empty and also empty for sedation.
