Day 11 on 2.5mg - I'm giving up. Side effects are too awful

Feel dead upset but the side effects of this drugs are just too much.
Spent entire night with horrendous stomach cramps, runs, dizzy, freezing. Still carrying on now feeling so horrible and in the bathroom.
Ive lost 4lbs but I think it's just water from the constant toilet and throwing up.

I didn't eat anything fatty or big yesterday and am drinking water (also can't function cos need a wee every half hour)

Also not had any appetite depression (Although sugar cravings totally gone which is wonderful)

I know if I carry on the suppression might kick in or side effects ease but how do I know? What if it carries on like this or just gets worse? I don't think i can risk it.

I have IBS and digestive issues and think my body just cant cope.

Anyone else feeling like giving up?

I'm gutted it's not the right option for me :(

could you half your dose? take 1.25mg? 30 clicks instead and go up slowly?

Hope you feel better soon, I get some side effects but I just grit my teeth through them as the end result will be worth it.

CatsorDogsrule · 19/03/2025 13:19

I would consider waiting a week or two then trying again with a half dose, like PP suggested. Remember that you can use a pen for up to 30 days, so you would have time to try at least 1 or 2 of the half doses from the existing pen within this window.

Have you tried asking for advice from your pharmacist?

Firefly45 · 19/03/2025 17:07

I'm thinking I could start again at lower doses but won't the side effects just kick back in once I get back to 2.5 again?

We all build up our doses slowly in order to get used to the medication. So you might just need to start slower/ lower than most, as you are so sensitive to it. I've certainly seen others state that this approach has worked for them.

It's your choice to consider a lower dose to try to give your body a chance to get used to the medication, and as noted, your prescriber is your best resource. (I wouldn't take a higher dose than prescribed, but have taken less when it works well.for me )

I had ibs, mounjaro has reversed it and I've been on it 5 months now. Heavy carbs can also affect people like pasta, pizza etc

shrinkingthiswinter · 20/03/2025 06:33

Try building up more slowly as PPs have said?

Bristollocalknowledge · 20/03/2025 06:35

Have you taken anything for the side rgfwcts? Immodium, antacids, rehydration sachets? Being dehydrated will make the symptoms much worse.

lapuf · 20/03/2025 15:09

I had gastro side effects for the first two weeks, hardly anything since and been going five months.

Azureshores · 20/03/2025 17:11

Loads of people have had this at first and titrated down to a half dose and then been ok - and then ok when they've moved back up. I'd do as a pp suggests and come off it for a week or two then start again with a half dose. And take some Imodium!

FatGirlLosing · 20/03/2025 18:34

I am another one who had a sudden bout of the same effects for about 36 hours, exactly 11 days in. Absolutely grim - made worse by being away from home for New Year. I’ve not had a single side effect since.

Feel better soon 💐

FatGirlLosing · 20/03/2025 18:37

ps - the usually trusty Imodium didn’t help at all but electrolytes in my water were a godsend
