Flying with mounjaro

I have a 2 week holiday coming up. Departing on Friday, my injection day, returning 2 weeks later. I'll be on injection 5 or 1, if the pen has it, on departure day.. I heard a person say their pen evaporated flying. Is that possible?
I could inject number 5, then skip a week, and start a new pen on my return.
I will have a fridge, but definitely less private than at home.( Haven't told DH.)
I will be taking carry on luggage only. WWYD

I can't imagine it evaporating, I'm no scientist though... However how are you planning to carry a liquid on board without your husband knowing? Are all airports no liquid restrictions now?

Are you just starting on 2.5?

Oh I don't know, I've told everyone!

JanglingJack · 19/03/2025 00:40

Personally I'd treat it like any other medication and take it with me. I'm fortunate though, in that I've never had a husband ( or wife!)

Evaporating?!?! What a load of total bollocks!

I have flown with pens numerous times now. I have an insulin case with small blocks and a frio wallet and have used both. You don’t need to get it out at security at any airport I have been through (Gatwick, Heathrow, Dubai, Bali, Dalaman) and just leave it in your bag. I flew hand luggage only last week, with easyJet who state no syringes, but carried one in my case and nobody batted an eyelid. They were more interested in the vast amount of cheddar I was carrying for an ex-pat friend😂😂

Whilst you’re away, you can keep the pen out of the fridge if worried about your DH finding it. If it’s hot, take a Frio wallet as it will keep a pen under 30 degrees for at least two days. All so so easy and really a complete non event!

Pandora71 · 19/03/2025 09:12

Also flying soon. @IReallyNeedThisToWork so you didn’t put it in the see-through liquids bag?

JengaTower124 · 19/03/2025 11:38

I go on holiday soon. I cant be bothered to take it with me so im injecting the morning we go and il inject the day we get back.
Its a 10 day holiday but it will be fine.

esme19 · 19/03/2025 11:39

I would inject a day early and leave it at home and enjoy your holiday!

JudgingJudy · 19/03/2025 13:45

Thanks everyone.

It's not Top Secret - I just didn't want to worry DH. I'll probably have him told by then anyway. Teenagers on the other hand...
I might inject before I go and skip a week.

It’s not a problem to travel with it. I have just been to Australia and New Zealand for five weeks and took two pens in hand luggage. I put it in with my other liquids but as most places now seem to have the new scanners where you don’t have to take liquids out it was easy. And even where I did have to take liquids out it was fine.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 19/03/2025 13:53

@Pandora71 I did the very first time I flew but haven’t bothered on the subsequent 6 flights and it hasn’t been a problem. Got pulled over by security last week but that was because of the cheese! 😂
@esme19 why can’t you enjoy a holiday whilst taking MJ? 🤷‍♀️

As I have written somewhere else before, I am taking Mounjaro to treat a chronic condition. I would no more ‘skip a week’ or ‘leave it behind’ than I would leave my asthma or blood pressure meds behind.

JanglingJack · 19/03/2025 18:17

I still read the title and think...

Wow...she's off her tits man....

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 19/03/2025 20:51

😂

Pumpkinforever · 19/03/2025 23:04

Holidays / flying is easy with MJ. Take it in hand luggage in a Frio container (or similar). I have taken my MJ on holiday twice now.

How do you think insulin dependent diabetics cope? Or people on other types of medication?

I have heard some rubbish about MJ but this nonsense about it evaporating during flying takes top spot 😂😂😂

People - please stop believing these stupid stories and use your common sense. This is embarrassing
