Golden dose question

Hi all,

So I’m looking at taking my first golden dose this weekend. I’ve decided to use a syringe instead of attempting to hard twist and break the pen in order to get the last bit of mounjaro.

I was wondering what would be the most optimal and safe way to do this regarding syringes? Is it better to use one syringe with needle already attached, or to buy syringes and needles separately, and use one needle for withdrawing the Mounjaro and another needle for then injecting it?

I have been looking at the UKMEDI site and was considering purchasing the FMS micro syringe 32G 8mm 1ml. Also, for those who use this, do you need to inject at an angle as it’s a longer needle or would it be fine to insert it all the way in?

Thanks!

I use syringes with a fixed needle, so the same one to withdraw the liquid and then to inject with.
I put the needle in straight but don’t push it all the way in. I have heard you can angle it at 45 degrees if necessary but I inject into my very fat stomach so there’s no chance of it going into anywhere other than my fat.

Thanks for replying @Snozzlemaid. I’ve always been a bit worried about injecting into my stomach and I tend to just alternate between my thighs. So would you say you push it maybe halfway in to administer? Does any excess medication come out if the needle isn’t all the way in?

Yes about half way and no I’ve not had any liquid escape. It’s all injected as usual.

Needle tips from 4mm to 12mm length are approved by Eli Lilly for administering Mounjaro subcutaneously, so no need to angle it @Mounjaromummy . I use 8mm syringes.

Thanks @CatsorDogsrule. I feel surprised you can use up to a 12mm needle! I feel like I’d hit an artery!

@MrsCob888 a normal dose is 0.6ml so 60 units on your syringe.

Hi everyone. If my needle is a 1 mil needle and my quickie pen is a 15 mg but I only want to take 5 mg dose. What do I fill the needle to? to get the correct dose? Any help would be brilliant as I am now on a maintenance dose but have the 15 mg needle left
Thanks

No! Your pen is 5mg, not 5ml.
You want 0.6 ml. It's probably 60 units on your needle.

You want .2ml of your 15mg pen to get 5mg dose.

Hi sorry I wasn't clear. I was talking about Extracting the golden dose or partial with a bought one ml syringe.
If the quickie pen is a 15 mg and I only want to extract 5 mg, what is the measurement on the 1ml syringe to extract that amount .
I have found a YouTube video by someone called ' the fat old climber" in which he has a calculator. So I think my problem is solved.
Thanks for your input.

Useful link

this is helpful

please double check all doses yourself

15mg/3 =5mg
0.6/3= 0.2 ml

Thank you so much for that link. It seems to have solved my problems
